Christmas week may have made for fewer submissions but those entered were beautifully crafted and still made the decision process a difficult one! My presents to you this week in no particular order: An Alleyway in East Vancouver by angelag......Someone walking into this alleyway could have thought they made a wrong turn. However, Angela saw the foundation for strong image. Her use of texture compliments the image perfectly and adds to the overall atmosphere. A smartly conceived image. Into the Light and Fog by Christell..........I like the way this photographer positioned the sun behind the tree. With that old pick-up truck in the background, Christell's choice of toning gives this image a vintage quality that works with the overall scene. Dream Tree by Tom Gettys........Before I could comment on this image I had to do some investigating to see if they were Birch or Aspens! I found a youtube video that pointed out the triangular markings on the bark which distinguish the Aspen from the Birch tree. So now with some confidence I can say how pleasing I found this grouping of Aspens. The orange leaves interspersed within the image are a nice reminder of the beauty of the season just passed. Clearly a Reflective Morning by blackmutt.........The brilliance of the red barn reflected in the blue water along with the surrounding golds made this image a standout for me. And now my selection for IOW! Alberta Sunrises by STorkington! Not one but a plethora of images presented poster style, each one is worth closer inspection. These are beautiful, Simone and I like your idea to present them together. The varied clouds, colors and silhouettes have been beautifully exposed. Hope you print and hang this somewhere. i.imgur.com/fJaeqW7.jpg

They're all great images Helen but somehow I feel that Simone is just another Canadian showing off. Congratulations everybody. Ron

Thanks for the honorable mention Helen! That image resulted from a question asked here about a similar image; it got me intrigued and started playing.
Congratulations on the IOW Simon; how precious to be graced with such beauty!

Excellent choices Helen! Simone, is there a way to see your sunrises individually - they are so lovely!
...ahahaha.......luckily that shot from DOWN under was more like a finger-poke than a knockout punch by the time it made its way UP to the Great White North!

Helen, thank you for judging this week and thank you so much for the IOW, which I never expected with all these wonderful submissions this week.
Congratulations to everyone this week.
Ron, I am sorry to brag about our beautiful sunrises up here, feel free to come up and share them with us if you dare to enter the cold north.

Helen Thanks for judging, for your thoughtful comments, and for including my picture among such masterful images. Congratulations to Christell, Tom and Blackmutt, and especially to Simone for her beautiful images and imaginative presentation. Sadly, my visits to Alberta have been few and short, but maybe one day I will experience one of those sunrises. agg
