Today I ordered a Nikon P500. Anybody else looking at this bridge camera? Opinions?
Looks like it will make my hobby simpler and more enjoyable. Also would like to see a little more activity on this forum

I was off 400 on the model number. I meant P900. John again

Also would like to see a little more activity on this forum John Hi john, I recently bought a P530, which seems to have roughly the same specs as the older 500, although I would really like to have the articulated screen that the 500 has. (What does the term bridge refer to?) I have been unhappy with it, simply because the image quality isn't good as compared to pictures I see here. I am about ready to pop for the Nikon 3300, as it has a much larger sensor (the same one used in the 7100). Hopefully the activity level will pick up dramatically once Elements Village closes on May 15. We are thinking of that date as our "Grand Opening"; we're still sweeping and setting up tables around here right now!

Also would like to see a little more activity on this forum John John, Just be a bit patient - people are straddling both this forum & EV at the moment. Once EV closes it's doors for good then I'm sure the volume of activity here will pick up! Bayla

When I purchased my SX50 someone offered this explanation,,,,The Bridge Camera bridges the gap between the true Point & Shoot camera's and the the more serious line of equipment ie:DSLR. I don't know if thatr's actually true or not but it does seem to fit.

That's the definition of bridge camera I have heard. Also no lense changes. Interesting camera. Don't know how much I will miss shooting in raw but I not ever print anything larger than 8x10 and most of my stuff is 5x7 so jpeg should work. Anxious to get my hands on it.

Some of the bridge cameras will shoot RAW(ie: Canon SX50 for sure),,,the big draw back I notice is the small sensor/frame but I like it overall.

Got frustrated waiting on Nikon to ship the P900 to my local shop. Started searching and found them available at Sams for $20 less than the B&H price. Ordered last Thursday and it will be here 2 Jun. Hope to be zooming next week. John

FWIW: I did buy the Nikon D3300 bundle, and am very pleased with it. 18-55mm and 55-200mm lenses included for $600; that's less the the cost of the lenses purchased separately, no camera body! To sweeten the deal, my local camera dealer (Shutterbug) added in the WIFI module at no cost! I truly think this is the sweet-spot in DLSR cameras as of 6/2015.
