Very cool, Jim! You certainly chose a challenging tree to put in that jar!

Very Very Good Jim!!! How did you do it? This sort of work could be very difficult with a mouse, it could be done if you have a mouse that you can control for the finer areas, I have the intuos pro. I then used A4 paper as a base & background for the jar, you then need to position the project so that you get a reflection against the jar, i managed a good reflection coming of our conservatory windows for the jar i also found needed natural light to give you the contrast of the glass. The tree was from a camera shot taken locally & this is where the tablet really works well, i used the selection tool to try & get as much detail of the tree as poss, you may find your'll need to do this with few layers, oh & be sure to find a tree that's going to be the shape of your project 'as this can also save you a lot of editing time, my branches were already shaped from the camera shot so saved time there as well. Once you have the tree saved on a transparency background you may find the outer branches become lighter, with these areas you can use the a selection tool with layer mask & 'levels' to darken the branches. At this point my memory fades as l remember having to flatten some layers ie tree. The jar I practiced on a transparency background then various colored backgrounds to be sure of the amount of opacity the eraser tool needed with 300 size soft brush as i also wanted to used the jar with the tree on any back ground once completed. I found you can only get one chance to sweep across the area of the glass for the required amount transparency so it may take a few layers to find best results. Now its just a matter of pasting your tree behind the jar or should i say inside the jar as this is the appearance we need, good luck,

Jim, you did a marvelous job catching the natural light reflections on the jar. This is something I find very difficult to do in post-production with Photoshop and have never tried to do with a camera shot.

Rita Thanks, I found the glass jar was really good absorbing reflections so just a matter of finding the right position for the camera shot.

Beautifully accomplished project. I know the tablet can be so helpful to those with an artistic flair. I just never could get the hang of it, so gave mine to a niece who was dying to afford one.

Thanks. When i first started using the tablet I still carried on using the mouse therefore couldn't get used to working with the tablet so in the end shelved the mouse & within about a week i was addicted to the tablet when i realized how much easier it was to edit in pse & using all the short cuts all done with one hand on the tablet. Since back then i now only use the tablet for my pc work, i have it setup so it knows if im on the browser or pse or any other work im doing & is much quicker than the mouse.
