With so many gorgeous gallery images this week I found myself perusing them again and again in order to to narrow the field down to a few honourable mentions and an IOW winner. Alas, no one said judging would ever be easy. With that said, on with the show we go.
My picks to shine the spotlight on for honourable mentions this week are (in no particular order):
Pink Perfume - Kathylee
The lone flower entry this week, I felt what really set it off was the choice of background. The blur and subtle red streaks coordinate so effectively with the flower and help it to stand out. The image has the impact to make one yearn for sprin. While my sense of smell is somewhat diminished due to a slight cold it certainly is a case of pretty in pink for me!
Boathouse Along The Glenelg River, Nelson - Jackscrap
I love the painterly effect you have achieved and the bright (without being overly saturated) yellow, orange and green fusion of colours in this image. You have turned a simple scene into a lovely work of art and done so very effectively. For me, this is a beautiful slice of Australiana worthy of a place on a wall. Brilliant processing!
Oregon Falls - hmca
This is a breath taking scene and would be so in its starkest form, but you have managed to transcend its inherent beauty with the way you have captured the cascading falls making them look so lustrous and milky. The bridge really puts in perspective the grandeur of this scene. What a terrific capture – makes me want to see these falls!
And this week’s IOW honour goes to:
eerie place...! - tourerjim
Hardly an eerie place for me as I found it to be a scene of peace and serenity with the stillness of the water and the lone tree silhouetted against such a gorgeous sunset (or was it sunrise?). I loved the bird on the limb seeming to marvel at the beauty of the moment. Beautiful composition. Step up to the dais and take a bow Jim!
And so it goes for another week. As well as congratulating this week’s winners I want to thank everyone who entered images in their gallery – I could go on and on talking about others that I liked. While I won’t be in the hot seat as a judge next week, I will still be looking forward to perusing next week’s crop of gallery images which I know will be a visual feast.
