Another way to do it without linking back to flickr is to click on view all sizes. Next choose the size you want displayed, here I chose medium 800px then right click on image and choose copy url. All that's left then is to paste into the insert image dialog of this site.

You are not inserting images directly it is still a linked image but without being forced to the flickr site if I re upload that image in flickr you will no longer be able to see it has the link will be broke, do you wish me to prove it.

I think this will always be a source of confusion. If what is being inserted in your post is a link (URL), all is good. The only time an image is actually embedded in a post is when the Add Attachment button is used. I will have to confer to see if there is a need for that button to be present; removing it would make the whole issue go away (I think).

I still don't understand why if it's a link (& not an attachment) it doesn't link!

I still don't understand why if it's a link (& not an attachment) it doesn't link! Bayla I am not sure I know what you are meaning Bayla. However, I think a link needs to be surrounded with html code or BBCode to be understood. Basically, if you use one of the insert link buttons it is going to work, more or less well, but it will work. I am becoming more and more a fan of the postimage.org button; that makes it really painless!

Bayla Yep, that is very reasonable! Again though, I have to ask, are you using the Link button in the tool bar above? That should do what you expect. Here is a link (the fact that it is a link to a Flickr image doesn't matter, it is just a link).

I know how to create a link, but whereas your link actually links to a page, Paul's very large pictures don't! They look like embedded attachments! Am I being very stupid or what? Bayla

Bayla Bayla I usually link from my PBase site in exactly the same way I demonstrated with Flickr the only difference is Pbase does not demand you you link to the full web page just the image on the web page. Here is the web page Then I just use this sites insert image url (not a attachment) Oh now look the image is there but not the web page itself. None of this images are on the Elements site but linked to my pBase images even the screen grabs are on my Pbase site linked to here. I hope that makes it clearer for you.

Paul,
Thanks. Got it now. Must be the heat getting to me. It's more than 20°C hotter where I am compared to home, plus it didn't help that my ds#5 & his wife bolted their front door & locked me out of the house last night & went to sleep, so I am extremely tired! Had to call on ds#2 to come & rescue me at 1am & take me back to his place where I had the pleasure of sharing a room with two little girls!

I have been using TinyPic which is an off shoot of PhotoBucket and also using Mother PhotoBucket. They as most do, assign a URL to an image for Forum posting. I copy the URL of a selected image and paste it into the body of the Thread and it stands alone with no garbage or link's back to the source page. This is just another method.

Bayla I think so too Bayla, sorry! There is some critical piece of information missing... However, I think from a previous post you are trying to have an image show up in your post that is housed on Flickr; is that correct? If so, click the Share this photo button; the dialog displayed has 3 choices: HTML, Link and BBCode. Click BBCode, then cut&paste the highlighted contents into your post. After you do that your selected image size will appear in your post. Here, I selected a small image for the thumbnail you are seeing. If you click it, you will be taken to the full-size image. Please see the FAQ that addresses Flickr images. DSCN2083 by Thomas Gettys, on Flickr
