Using a text box
When you add journaling to a digital scrapbook layout, it’s easier when you control/confine your text to a specific area without having to click return to start new lines. It can be difficult to judge just how much space you want your journaling to take up with the 'click return' hit or miss process.
This is where a text box comes in handy.
If you are going to do multi-sentence journaling, it’s easier to use a Notes application or Word processing software to compose your journaling. Once you get "on paper" exactly what you want to say, it’s simple to copy/paste that text onto your layout.
Copy your text from your Word processing program or your Notes and go over to your layout.
To copy your text -- First highlight your text - then use control/command C to copy the text
or right click and choose "copy"
To make a text box on your layout, grab your Text Tool and while holding down the mouse key, drag out a box in the area on your layout you wish to place your journaling. Don’t be too fussy about preciseness because you can use your Move Tool to change the size and position of your text box.
Click inside the text box and paste your text.
To paste your text -- Use control/command V
or right click and choose "paste"
If you don’t see all your text, your text box is too small. You can either decrease the size of your text, or you can increase the size of your text box.
Text boxes work in an interesting way.
After you make a box and fill it with text, you can manipulate it in two ways:
-If you grab the Move Tool and change the size of the text box, the text will change in size with the change in the box size.
-If you first highlight your text, a bounding box will appear so you can adjust your text box --but if the text is highlighted, the text will stay the same size, but the lines of text will get longer or shorter.
Realize, you still have complete control of your text just like you do without a text box. You can change the font, change the font size, change the color, change the orientation during any step of this process. You select your text by clicking on the thumbnail of the text layer and go to the text tool options.
