This may be just coincidental(sp) but I have been and am being overrun(for the last 3 days) with ads, offer's and newsletter spam. No damage to my knowledge just terribly annoying. dick So far at least, I have not seen any changes whatsoever (crossfingers). My sense of what happened is that the blackhats just wanted a site to redirect to ads; they did not gain entry, so email addresses, and certainly no credit card numbers were taken (because there weren't any!).

Be sure not to open any of the spam, but even worse if you do open a spam email DO NOT click on any links with in the email!

MajorMajor, on the first page of this thread a couple of people noted their credit cards had been hacked. I was thinking the hackers got into our PET accounts via EV.

MajorMajor, on the first page of this thread a couple of people noted their credit cards had been hacked. I was thinking the hackers got into our PET accounts via EV. I think you may have misunderstood those posts. They were just stating that a lot of hacking seems to be currently going on. When I said that I had my credit card hacked, I wasn't saying that they got it because EV was hacked. The two incidents are totally unrelated, as MajorMajor said, no credit card details were held by the EV forum.

Thanks for the clarification, Storkington. As you now know, my tech knowledge/skills are pretty basic!

And to add further clarity - I'm not aware of any issues with the PET site and their server(s). The issue was with the server hosting the EV forum, which was out of date and vulnerable to the type of hack that occurred. One of the reasons for the premature shutdown was a concern that member's EV information could be compromised if it was left up and running.
I think any issues with spam, hacks, etc. that EV members are having are not related to the EV issues.
