OK, tis is going to be harder to explain than to show, but here goes. In my previous elements (10,11,12,13) I also use an external editor (photoscape) for a few things. I used to...from organizer, select a photo, click editor side selecting and select external editor. Photoscape would open, I'd make a few changes, save it in photoscape, and it would automatically appear back in the organizer automatically, slick as could be. In 14, using the same steps, organizer now comes up with, "new files found in your watch folders would you like to add them" (I never used to get this dialogue, the edited pic would just appear). If I say no, the pic is not shown in organizer. If I say yes, I get an "error" that says 1 media file was skipped, "the file already exists in the catalog". When I close this dialogue, the pic is there in organizer. It's like 1. the organizer adds it, 2. then checks my watch folder and 3. tries to add it again. But if I say no, it doesn't add it at all. BTW, my watch folder is setup as it has always been, no change there. I know I could turn off my watch folders, but then any pics I add without my external editor would not show up. "Something" has changed, but I don't know what. I hope I've explained this clear enough, but if you have any ideas or questions, please let me know. Thanks, Roger

"Something" has changed, but I don't know what. Roger Let's try to see what can have changed. For instance, it's common to have to 'reset preferences' in the organizer to solve some problems, and to forget to put them back to their former state. - menu File >> Watched folders: is 'add automatically...' checked? If it is and you get the message asking if you want to add, then it would be worth trying resetting the preferences to default (in the General tab). Are you sure there are no options in Photoscape which can have been changed? There are such options in external tools like OnOne suite.

MB, thanks for your response, and you hit the nail on the head, that perhaps something in Photoscape was a problem. "Somehow", in photoscape, an option under save, "create a backup of the original photo..." was checked. Apparently, PSE , when porting the photo over to Photoscape, would rename it xyz-edited1.., then when exiting photoscape, photoscape would also save a backup called xyz-edited1 AND the new xyz-edited1, so PSE would see the new file AND the backup file, trying to save them both . Thanks for helping to point me in the right direction, problem solved. Cheers, Roger
