Welcome to this weeks IOW presentation. With some great images in our member galleries over the past week, on which ones will the spotlight shine and which one will take out the coveted IOW award? I am sure you are all anxious to find out, so without further ado let's jump right into this weeks presentation.
Honorable Mentions:
A Foggy Morning - kathylee
I love the simplicity of this well composed and lovely black and white image. You have perfectly captured the etherealness and softness of the fog in this gentle scene. Together they convey a sense of calm and serenity. Deftly photographed!
Anna's Hummingbird - angelag
What a magnificent capture of this beautiful little bird. A great demonstration of depth of field in keeping the foreground and background soft while maintaining a crisp focus on the hummingbird and flower. The two predominate and complementary colours, green and (almost) magenta, resonate perfectly to make this image stand out. Wonderful!
Reflections of History - dandc
This is a remarkable scene within a scene with an interesting collection of images captured as reflections in the glossy red paint on the bonnet of the fire truck. The more one stares at it the more captivating it becomes. I found the reflections of the marbled sky, tree, house and person and clothes hanging in front of it utterly intriguing. The muted colour and blur of the background draws the viewer's attention directly into the scene on the bonnet. Terrific image!
IOW
Homage to Jules Verne - Storkington
An imaginative and visual travelogue, I love the way this image has been composed. What a feast of items to behold - floating balloons, steamship, train, elephants, camels, mountains, travel diary, foreign currency notes, camera, binoculars, pocket watch and cup of tea (did I miss anything else?). You have done Jules Verne proud with this image It looks like it must have been a lot of fun to collect all of the items, compose them, and shoot the scene. Step up to the dias and take a well deserved bow Simone for this weeks fabulous IOW!
