Hi I'm getting frustrated with having to wait for the screen to catch up when I'm typing a post in a Thread. I appreciate I am a reasonably fast typist, due to having done Secretarial Training long, long time ago so I do Touch-Type. However, while I type I generally watch the screen and, so very often on here, I find I have to stop typing so that the screen catches up. It's so infuriating and only seems to do it on this Forum, strangely enough. Having said that, it's not doing it now, while typing this post for a New thread - would that have anything to do with it, I wonder? Another difference on here is that I have AdBlockPlus switched off - coz I got fed up with notices asking for it to be turned off So, would anyone have had the same experience? Can anyone suggest how to improve the display to show the text as I type. Please don't suggest I type any slower - I'd get in a right old muddle Thanks for any help, suggestions etc Julie PS My PC is pretty fast, on the whole. I've checked in Task Manager to see if anything is holding things up but all is showing very little Processor or RAM being demanded so can't think it's that. Thanks

Hmm, that is very odd indeed Julie. Like you, I touch type and am faster than most, but I don't experience your issue either here in work or at home on my laptop.

Julie, I have had similar issues in the past not only with this site, but other web sites as well. I have usually found that resetting the modem/router will often help in making things good again.

Thanks Sydney, I've reset my router and it hasn't made any difference. Strangely, it's only this site that seems to be affected. I've just enabled AdBlockplus (for this sentence) and it got stuck on typing 'enabled'. So, not the internet nor AdBlockPlus. I seem to remember having this issue before but I can't remember any of the details. I'm open to any other suggestions, of course, but it rather looks like I'll have to just put up with it for now. Having said that, I have just managed to type ALL this para without a problem!!! Maybe the 'fiddling' has done something after all I'll see how it goes - I'll just have to write a lot of posts to be able to check it out, eh? Thanks Julie

I certainly can't think of any reason it would happen with only this site. When that has happened to me it turned out to be because windows was doing one of those massive update downloads in the background. It is happening more often to me, but that is because my younger son has moved back home for a bit and he streams a lot of video.

Thanks Tom
The typing seems to keep up again just now. Also, around the same time this evening, I had a spate of Shockwave Flash, or whatever it is, getting script stuck and apparently crashing. That doesn't seem to be happening now either so it could well be something taking up bandwidth that I know nothing about. I'll try to remember to check in Task Manager to see if the Ethernet is sometimes in too much demand or something that might be the cause.
I'll try to keep my eye on the Performances. Currently have a video running on YouTube. Demand on Ethernet is steady at 3.9 Mbps and nowhere near high demand on the graph, nor RAM or CPU. Nor did the typing 'stutter' while the video was playing.
Again, thanks for the suggestion.
Julie

I have found I have problems with slow typing, on and off, since I switched to W10. Haven't found a resolution yet but it seems to be a common complaint. The problem is intermittent.

One of the "solutions" is to change the paging size. I did that and haven't noticed any difference.

Yes, it could be Win 10. I'll have to do more searching, I think Julie You may want to check this thread.

If the problem doesn't get fixed by following their suggestions, it may be a good idea to post in that forum. They say -- "We will be happy to assist you."

Thanks very much for this link, Sepiana. I've had a quick read. I'll update keyboard drivers tomorrow (too late here now, as almost midnight and I'm so tired today).
I'll let you all know how I get on
Thanks again Julie

Julie,
I just did a Firefox Refresh and my typing is working a lot better, still not like under W7 but a lot better than it was. Whatever browser you have look for the "refresh" and try that.

Hi Sue Thanks, yes I do use Firefox so I'll do a Refresh and see how it goes when I write posts. Today, this seems to be absolutely fine but I'll see how it goes. Many thanks for your suggestion Julie

I'm on a Mac running an older OS and I am on an older iPad and I've experienced this on both. I haven't been paying much attention as to where it happens having chalked it up to being an issue with my older equipment, but I don't believe it's only this site.

I'd start with the option to refresh or reset your browser settings and clear the browser cache.
