Thank you for this information. I never use Quick Time anyway so not a problem to uninstall it. Just hope the updates don't keep suggesting to update/install it again.

Rita, thanks for the heads up! I do have QuickTime; I use it to play the videos on the PET site. (I am a member.) I guess I can always switch to VLC Media Player for Windows.

Julie, there were 3 items in my Control Panel, QuickTime, Apple Application Support and Apple Software Update. I uninstalled all of them. That should prevent attempts at updating.
Sepiana, those of my saved videos that used to have the little QuickTime icon have changed themselves to the Windows Media Player icon and are working fine.

If you also have iTunes, I believe you will need Apple Application Support and Apple Software Update. These two programs are not limited to QuickTime. Apple Application Support is required to run iTunes and Apple Software Update is required to keep iTunes updated via the Internet. Anyway, this is how I understand it.

That is probably correct. I didn't consider it because I've never used iTunes. Rita

Hi No, I don't use iTunes either although I would have liked to. I can't remember why I couldn't use it so haven't used it for years! Thanks for alerting me to the fact I might have had to re-install iTunes Julie

A few years ago I 'updated' to Quicktime Pro, which I have used a few times to make timelapse videos, although I have not done that in a while. If I uninstall Quicktime, what other software is there to use to make another timelapse video if I ever so desire? Thank you

It looks like Premiere Elements can do the job.

I have never owned Premiere Elements, and would prefer software not quite that complex if possible.... Quicktime did do a wonderful job. Too bad Apple no longer will support it.
