You could try Windows Movie Maker. It's free and should do the things you want to do Julie

I have never owned Premiere Elements, and would prefer software not quite that complex if possible.... I believe there are some advantages in taking the time to learn to use Premiere Elements. Premiere Elements ties-in quite well with Photoshop Elements; Adobe gives you a price break when you buy the combo; and you can get top-of the-line help and advice in the Adobe Premiere Elements forum.
If you do a Google search, you can find out about the variety of this kind of software which is available. I am no expert in this area. Maybe some of our members can give you some input on these options.

Quicktime did do a wonderful job. Too bad Apple no longer will support it.
Just a little clarification for the benefit of anyone following this thread.
This issue concerns only the Windows version of QuickTime. Mac users are not affected by it.

However, if you are really serious about creating time-lapse videos, I am not sure WMM can do as good a job as Premiere Elements. Yes, it is a drawback that Premiere Elements is for purchase and its learning curve is somewhat steep but this program is a full-featured one. I am afraid WMM falls behind when it comes to the features it offers.

Too bad the guy that was at EV (can't remember his username anymore) is not here as he was really good with Premiere Elements and very helpful, very in-depth with all his help.

You can download a free 30-day trial of Premiere Elements to test the waters.
You may be thinking of ATR. I believe he can be found at the Adobe Premiere Elements forum.
We don't have a Premiere Elements board here. Therefore, we recommend that those seeking timely and expert help with this program post in the Adobe forum.

Yes I was thinking of ATR In the Premiere Elements board, he is known as A.T. ROMANO. Something has happened in this board so that he is practically no longer there (last time logged in: 10 feb. 2016, last post in January). I think he has a blog, but I can't find it now. Edit: here it is: atr935.blogspot.fr/2014/01/pe-instant-movie-theme-outdoor.html Very expert advice by Premiere Gurus in the Premiere Elements forum (Steve Grisetti, Ann Benns...)

Also, it may be interesting to state that my Panasonic TZ6 .mov videos play fine with Elements 13 and 14, but not from versions 10 and 12 (which means versions prior to V13). If you want to play a video from the organizer in those older versions, you have to be in Folders view and choose 'reveal in explorer'. Then you can right click and choose your player, Windows Media Player or VLC or...

Youmight want to look into Proshow Gold. I have only used it lightly but I am sure there is more buried inside of it.

I had bought Proshow Gold back in 2009 to make a slideshow for my brothers wedding, but have not used it since. It has not been loaded on my computer now for several years. I am sure what I have is way out of date, but I am not aware I could use Proshow Gold to make time lapse videos.

I looked into it several years ago and went back an did a Google. The answer is yes. Here is a link: www.proshowblog.com/2013/04/create-a-time-lapse-video-in-proshow/I have found Proshow a solid pgm, easyish to use. I never could get Premiere to work to my satisfaction and gave up after 6 months(this was with ATR helping). I then went through several programs and settled on Proshow. I only use Gold but would love to upgrade to Producer, just can't justify it $$$.

I bought Proshow Gold myself back in 2007, so it has been awhile. I used it to make a slide show for my brothers wedding, which they absolutely LOVED! It was a very good program. I just checked, I still have the files and registration, but I don't know why there are so many files: psgold_30_1931, psgold_30_1942, psgold_31_2018, psgold_32_2040, psgold_32_2047, psgold_35_2249, psgold_35_2279, and ready_set_show_psg
I am now thinking I should contact ProshowGold and see what they have to say.
Thank you Sue! I did not realize or even think ProshowGold would do timelapse video!
