It has been another high quality week; it feels like slightly fewer posts than my last time judging, but some excellent images submitted, giving me some tough choices.
In my Highly Commended list are:
Contemporary Still Life by deany. I do love a modern interpretation of the classic still life, and this image works really well. The way the light plays on the folds of the material works really well; I am not sure if there is any deep meaning to the line of limes coming into the light, but I'm sure it is up to interpretation . I have wanted to try light painting for some time now, having seen some lovely results and you have given me another little nudge, so thanks for the inspiration.
Spring Blossom by angelag. Beautiful, artistic and dreamy all spring to mind. You have created a real artwork with the background bokeh, the vignette to draw the attention and the lovely detail of the veining on the leaves. If I wanted to be hyper-critical (just to help me chose my favourite) I would have loved just a smidgeon more space at the bottom so as not to clip that bottom leaf.
Old Borges Ranch by dandc. An exceptional example of a conversion to mono. You have maintained lovely tones and real clarity all across the image, including the grain of the timbered walls. The slightly off centre spotlight works a treat and the positioning of the elements within the composition is just right; you seem to have lined up features on the thirds but not in a clunky or overly obvious way.
Tower Bridge long exposure by Alexr. OK, I am being really naughty here; this is the sort of corruption that brings down politicians and public figures. I get that it is absolutely unacceptable for a judge to vote for his own work. But... I throw myself on your knees at your mercy. The thing is that I have never before received 15 likes for an image in my Gallery and I'm sure I will never do so again. So why on earth did I upload it in a week when I am the IOW judge? D'oh, I'm an idiot. So I'm gonna sneak it in and hope it is accepted. Pretty please?
But onto the main event: my Image of the Week is actually Images of the Week because it is a great sequence of 3:
Bath Time - Bath Time, Shake it Off - Away We Go by WayneS. I love each of these individually, particularly 'Shake it off', but as a sequence they work really smoothly together and tell a lovely story. Each image is nicely positioned in the frame, free from any distractions and with lovely background water. And for each the bird's eye is sharp and in focus which is just as it should be, but so hard to achieve. Well done Wayne.
Thanks to everyone that posted images to their Galleries this week, it's been another great week and a pleasure to make the selection.
