Hi everyone,
Would you like to participate in the Weekly Photo Challenge? Just post a photo or photos which will be your interpretation of the theme.
The rules are rather simple.
Your photo(s) should be yours, i.e., they should not have been taken by someone else. Your photo(s) should be taken during the week of the theme. You are allowed to do some photoshopping. You are to experiment, and, most of all, have fun.

Thanks Sepiana for the timely challenge as I managed to get this shot today of a circular stairway at the library that I frequent. I took it with my video camera that also takes photos, but not very good ones unfortunately Anyway, it will get the challenge off and running.

Sydney,
If you yourself feel this is not a good photo and if you want to, you can go back and shoot it again. You have one week to fulfill this challenge. And photoshopping is allowed.
And for the benefit of anyone following this thread . . .
This challenge is really a three-pronged one:
1. Get you better acquainted with your camera. 2. Take your photography skills to the next level. 3. Provide you with many moments of fun.

Stairway to the stars. The Tees Transporter Bridge has an overall length (including cantilevers) of 851 feet (259 m), leaving a span between the centres of the towers of 590 feet (180 m), the beam of the bridge being carried at a height of 160 feet (49 m) above the road. The bridge is the longest remaining transporter bridge in the world. It was opened in October 1911. In the days before everyone had cars, men going to and from work on night shift (when the bridge was closed), would put their cycles on their shoulders, and climb the stairs. Then do the same at the other side. I have walked up and over several times . . . many years ago. It is exhausting even when not carrying anything. I live about 3 miles away, so I got these photos today.

whippet,
Great interpretation of Stairs/Steps! The two captures from different angles really show how the stairs stand. I love your first entry -- narrow/tall cropping, diagonal lines. The history behind these stairs is a bonus. Well done.

Whippet - that's an awesome set of stairs, and I love the tall, skinny crop. Thanks for the theme Sepiana, here's my try.

Bill,
I love this! All the lines and shadows. Choosing to do this image in B&W was perfect. It gave your image a film noir touch. Great job!

Imagine my surprise when I discovered the ones on my side of the river were no longer there.

Mark,
What a beautiful image! I love how you captured the steps by naturally framing them with the vegetation. It really placed the focus on the steps. Well done!

Here is a different take on "steps" - the steps of the Morris Dancers, out today on an "Ale Trail", i.e. pub crawl and performing their strange dances in a succession of country villages. Traditionally, it seems to be men only - very odd. But steps, nevertheless. Brenda

Brenda,
You never cease to surprise me with your thinking out of the box. Very creative take on this theme! Great capture of a very interesting group of dancers with a very interesting history to go along. Another job well done!

blackmutt,
Great capture! I really like how you composed your shot. The lighting effect really makes the steps stand out and invites us to follow them up.

Well there's nothing inviting about these stairs. We live on the 12th floor and if for some reason the elevator isn't working, this stairway is our means down....or up : (. I wanted to post something more interesting but as it's been raining here all week, I decided to go with this inside shot.) Played a bit with textures and Topaz restyle to give it a look that is more in keeping with how I feel about them.
