Thanks for making this action. I am trying it and enjoying it. I have discovered Panos actions for PSE and am trying some before I buy the Sketch one. Is there a place in the forum where actions are listed for download? Thanks.

How do you add the texture to the blank layer since no pixels are selected??

dano, When you finish running this action, the blank layer for the texture (named PLACE YOUR TEXTURE HERE) will be activated. Then, just do this . . . - File>Place. - Navigate to where you stored your texture on your computer. - Select it and Elements will place it on the blank layer. - If needed, use Free Transform to resize the texture. - Change the layer blending mode to get the effect you want. Post back if you have any further questions.

Sorry to be dense, but the only textures I have seen are the ones that came with PSE2018 I have no idea where they are stored on my computer.

No need to be sorry. Using textures can be confusing. I was talking about third-party textures available free or for purchase. We keep a list of websites which provide them in the Textures thread (Goodies board). Are you talking about the built-in textures which are applied with the Texturizer filter? If so, we may have to develop a workaround to use them in this action.

the only textures I have seen are the ones that came with PSE2018 I have no idea where they are stored on my computer. dano, I also have PSE 2018. Here are possible workarounds if you want to use these textures. Using the Texturizer filter:1. Make sure the PLACE YOUR TEXTURE HERE layer is activated. 2. Fill this layer with White or with a sampled color from your image. 3. Apply the Texturizer filter (Canvas, Sandstone, etc.). 4. Change the layer blending mode to get the effect you want. Using the Textures available in Elements (Presets folder):1. Make sure the PLACE YOUR TEXTURE HERE layer is activated. 2. Do File>Place. 3. Navigate to where Elements store Textures. -- C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 2018\Presets\Textures4. Select a texture and Elements will place it on the blank layer. 5. If needed, use Free Transform to resize the texture. 6. Change the layer blending mode to get the effect you want.

dano, you are most welcome! Please post back if you have any further questions. BTW, I completely forgot to mention this. You can add your own textures to the Texturizer filter. In this way, you will have a larger selection to use in this action. Lending the Texturizer Filter a Helping Hand

dano,
If you can't find any textures on the web to place on the empty layer, you can fill that empty layer with 50% Gray, Then use the texturizer and change the blend mode to overlay or soft light.

fotofrank, thanks for posting this workaround! I never thought of using a layer filled with 50% Gray. It works great!
