I am going to add some screen shots from DSLR Controller that were on my Nexus 9 to show a little bit what it looks like. Double click on the photos to see them larger. Sometimes some of the image is cropped out until you click on the image. This first one, starting at the upper left corner shows the camera in Manual Mode. Below that AF shows the lens in Auto-Focus Mode. Live is Live View. Below that is Picture Style. Below that is Drive Mode. Drive Mode is Pressing the shutter getting a single shot, or switching to High Speed Continuous Shooting (appx. 5 shots per second while holding the shutter button down), Low Speed continuous shooting (3 shots per second while holding the shutter button down), 10 second self-timer or 2 second self-timer Next is White Balance selector Next is Auto-Lighting Optimizer (if the image comes out dark or the contrast is low, the brightness and contrast can be corrected automatically) The Arrow... (pressing this takes you to the last photo taken on camera) To the right of the arrow is Shutter Speed, then f-stop (I have screen shots of both these). Next is Exposure Compensation Next is ISO Next is picture count and battery indicator on my camera The Gear looking thing is changing items within the DSLR Controller app. I have not fooled with this yet. Above the gear is the shutter. Press this to take a picture. The rectangle with 4 dots is Overlay. There is 4:3, 16:9, 2.35:1, 1.3x, 1.5x, 2.0x The next one, a manifier with 1x will digitally magnify the picture from 1x to 5x or 10x. This is used to help see how good your focus is. Lastly on top of that is Histogram which you can change from B&W to Color to none.

These 2 screens show when I selected the shutter speed or the f-stop settings I can change them from the tablet. Quite nice!

This one here, I pressed the AF button which then the AF changed to R-MF and all the arrows were added at top and bottom. With this screen with the camera and lens still selected to Auto-Focus I can change the focus by pressing the arrow keys. You can watch the focus ring on the lens turning and the focus changing on the tablet.

This image shows the rectangle around the word Samsung on my TV with the inner portion of the rectangle being green. You can touch the screen and move the rectangle to any area of the image you want, the tap on the screen inside the rectangle and the camera will then focus on that section of the image then turn green when it is in focus. If you press the 1x in the magnifier icon that will give you the 5x image shown here. There is a lot more that can be done with DSLR Controller but I have a lot to learn yet. Keep in mind DSLR Controller is only for (some newer) EOS Canon cameras. There is a cost of $7.99 which will go up when the program is no longer in Beta form. I have no idea what that will change to in cost. You buy it one time. If you have more devices you can download the program for free after the first purchase. I have it on my Android Smart phone and my Nexus tablet. HTH! (Hope This Helps)

That's very interesting, Charles! I think it's a bargain! Can you use it outdoors as well (outside the range of wifi)?
I have a similar "thing", a Camranger. It's quite expensive, but it makes it's own wifi, så I can take it wherever I want. It can also make HDR and focus stacking.

I use mine wired... I have a Micro USB OTG Cord that plugs into my tablet (also works with my smart phone) I got from Staples which then hooks up to the usb cord from my camera (this cord came with camera) It is possible to buy a wifi unit but I don't see the need for that right now. I have found it is good to have a small table or folding chair to lay my tablet onto while initially setting up my camera. Look at THIS THREAD as I used my tablet hooked to my camera for this moon shot

No more need for remote control. At least at home.
I use mine to get more range on perspective, and to be less noticable when I take street pictures. (It looks like I'm fiddling with my phone like everyone else, haha)
