On our older/still-using computer (also W7), I installed DIM (Digital Image Mover) and FastStone (image viewer & more); I cannot remember just how I accomplished it, but I managed to create desktop-icons/shortcuts to the instruction manuals of these two programs.
However, on this new machine, I have desktop shortcuts to both programs, yet I cannot get the shortcuts for the manuals to show up.
What I did: I located the file for each manual, right-clicked on the file, and clicked "create shortcut" --- at which point a new "shortcut" file appears in the same folder immediately above the actual file for the manual.
However, my shortcuts fail to show up on the desktop; I don't know where they are.
I did not see any list of options, just "create shortcut"
What am I not doing or doing wrong ?
Thanks for reading.

For Faststone, the help file on your computer is a file in the 'Program Files (x86) >> Faststone Image Viewer folder, it's 'FSViewerHelp.chm'. You can create a shortcut from that location and put it on the desktop or taskbar.

Instead of "create shortcut", try choosing "send to" and then "desktop (create shortcut", et volia.

Instead of "create shortcut", try choosing "send to" and then "desktop (create shortcut", et volia. Oddly enough, that option accomplished exactly what I needed. One would think (or at least I would) that "create shortcut" was the logical choice; I wonder just where I was creating shortcuts to --- I hope nowhere I didn't have any business going. Thanks.

Buckskin -
Glad to have helped. You created the shortcut within whatever folder you were in when you clicked on that command. If you look, you'll see it's still there. You could also have just dragged that to the desktop.

If you look, you'll see it's still there. You could also have just dragged that to the desktop. Will wonders never cease. Between W7, various browsers, umpteen different photo doctoring programs, plus untold miscellaneous programs and extras, there is just a whole lot of stuff that there ain't room enough in my poor old noggin to retain........ Thanks.
