Several months ago, before I became acquainted with you all and your vast source of knowledge, I was having problems with the "crop" tool in Elements 7
The problem is that the size options menu will freeze up on whatever setting has last been used.
Ours will do this at least once every day and more often if a lot of cropping is being done.
At least in our case, the "reset tool" button does nothing to fix this.
Someone at a different site told me of this trick and I thought that, since I hadn't yet seen it mentioned, I would post it here in case someone else is fighting the same issue.
I don't know which other versions this applies to, but it must be quite a common occurrence in E 7
This procedure makes no sense whatsoever, but it will work.
When the crop menu freezes up, go to Edit > Preset Manager and click "Done" ; don't make any changes; don't click anything else; just open the preset manager box and click "Done".
Magically, after this little procedure, the crop options will once again work like new, until it decides to freeze up again, at which point you simply do the procedure again.
I hope this bit of information is helpful to someone.
Thanks for reading.

Buckskin,
Yes, I have used that very useful top on a number of occasions as the remedy for all sorts of problems. I have an issue with my keyboard shortcuts not working at least once a week and the tip mentioned above works like a dream to get them fully tunctioning.

I have also used the Preset Manager to fix problems in Elements. I don't know how it works but it does. However, if the problem keeps coming back, maybe it is time to delete the Preferences file. According to the Help file . . .
"Preference settings control how Photoshop Elements displays images, cursors, and transparencies, saves files, uses plug-ins and scratch disks, and so on. If the application exhibits unexpected behavior, the preferences file may be damaged. You can restore all preferences to their defaults."
Here are the instructions for Elements 7 on Windows -- Press and hold Alt-Ctrl-Shift immediately after Elements begins launching. Click Yes to delete the Adobe Photoshop Elements settings file.
NOTE: Elements has two separate Preferences file, one for the Organizer and one for the Editor. This procedure will affect only the Editor's Preferences file.

Out of necessity, I just discovered the preset manager trick also works when the brush mode menu freezes up; that was a first for me.
A few weeks ago, when my brushes completely quit responding, I had to do the "delete the preferences" procedure; if I remember correctly, seeking a solution to that problem was how I found E-V.
