Welcome to this week’s IOW presentation. There were plenty of gorgeous and high quality images on display this week which made deciding on a few to highlight very difficult. Before I get to those choices I want to thank everyone who made submissions to their galleries this week – kudos to all of you. Your works are amazing and the talent within our forum never ceases to amaze me. With that said it’s time to present this week’s honourable mentions (in no particular order) and IOW winner.
Honourable Mentions:
sepia/selenium split toning effect – tpgettys
This image really moved me and spoke volumes to me without words. Whilst I have enjoyed your twirls, it is nice to see a new type of image in your gallery. Your sepia/selenium split toning treatment is perfect for the somber mood of this image and, in my opinion, was a master stroke. This is such an incredibly powerful and evocative image. Wonderfully done Tom!
Chipping Sparrow – jjr1770 (Judy)
Wow, this is a tack sharp image with a superbly textured and complimentary background that perfectly showcases this little chap. Added to this is the wonderful composition of the image – one would almost swear that you got him to pose for you! This is the sort of image one would expect to see in National Geographic. Thank you Judy for sharing it with us this week!
Summer – dandc
My first thought while perusing this image was how good it would look as a book cover, perhaps a Tobacco Road sequel? It is an image that lures the viewer in. For me, the lens flare conveys the sense of a hot summer day with a broiling sun beating down on a long, winding, dusty road which, in turn, conveys a sense of intrigue and adventure ahead. On the technical side, I applaud your HDR treatment (without going over the top) to bring out the dynamic range in the image and also the level of colour saturation. Terrific job with this Dan!
Image of the Week:
Ely Cathedral inside out – tourerjim
This is a superbly composited image which allows the viewer to marvel at and fully appreciate the grandeur of this gorgeous cathedral. I particularly like how you have placed and blended the (4?) images in the way you have. The overall effect is almost surreal. Perfect compositing and an image to behold. Fantastic Jim!

And so it goes for another week. Whilst I won't be in the judge's chair next week, I will still be looking forward to perusing everyone's images which I have no doubt will be another treasure trove for all of us to behold. Wishing everyone a pleasant week ahead with hopes that it brings lots of sunshine, smiles, and terrific images your way!
