Image of the Week June 27th - July 3, 2016

Wow — this was a nice surprise.

I’ve been asked about this image, so I thought that I would give a quick overview. The building is located in Northampton, PA. Although the rails are still in use, the station now houses a local historical society. I shot this at f11 with a 16mm lens. Processing included applying a Nik filter (probably Tonal Contrast); slight diffusing of the background buildings; DxO Viewpoint to straighten vertical lines (esp the telephone pole); sharpening of the railway station and finally applying a vignette.

Congratulations to everyone, especially the IOW image. I had just finished reading an article on how to shoot with a different perspective when this image appeared. The article was right, this perspective made the shot, I really love it and will have to try and incorporate perspective into my shots somehow!!!! I think we needed 5 or 10 more runners up, the selection of all the entries was fantastic.

The vox populi has spoken and a new IOW has been crowned - and what a fab image it is! Congratulations go out to Pete, Dean and Jim for their splendid works as well as a big thank you to Helen for her splendid work organizing the poll! Also kudos to everyone who took part in the poll
