BillieJean, To answer your question in Sepiana’s ‘ Old Fashioned Hand-Tinting’ thread. There was nothing complicated in making the originals. The first one was Endless Possibility Challenge No. 25 and came about because I couldn’t think of anything to do with it and just started playing around. I pulled apart the layers here and I think it’s self-explanatory. For the darker version I had changed background and base. The second one is even simpler, consists of just 2 layers. I started with a photo of a small (1.5”) display piece of so called Toledo Gold or Damascene Ware which I bought in Toledo, Spain, and the coloring is a hopeless and quite unprocessed photo of a paperweight on my desk. I made it as a birthday card for a friend I was with when we bartered for these things.

I remember seeing the first page in the Endless Possibility Challenge and I liked it then too and wondered how it had been done.
Thank you so much for sharing your technique. The results are impressive. What great imagination to use your paperweight photo as a source of colour for the disc shape. It works really well especially as it has the light reflections in it and the flecks of air bubbles (don't know how else to describe it) showing through in the darker blue at the bottom giving it texture. I hope your friend liked the birthday card.
Thanks again for going to this trouble for me.

BillieJean, you are very welcome. It's probably not much use for general application though. My friend loved the card because it recalled a pretty hilarious memory.

Rita It's the kind of thing us scrapbookers could use though and I'm glad your friend loved the card and it brought back pleasant memories.

Rita - thanks for the explanation. BillieJean is right - it's the kind of thing scrappers like to put on their layouts. Your work is truly impressive in it's scope and originality.

Tom and Janice, thank you for your very kind comments. It would be nice if my explanations could inspire new ways of creating effects in others.
