They have also shut down "On1 Photo Magazine" which was a publication that Rick LePage and Diana Kloskowski were running. I'm just wondering how long Adobe will be doing Elements. I remember something about Missing Manual not coming out with an Elements 14 book due to low demand for 13, etc. ~bruce.

tourerjim Check your email. They have offered subscribers a considerable compensation. That's true, but my subscription is paid up to September 2017 and I already have On1 10.5.1. I'm really sorry to see it go, and I'm sure the editorial staff are all feeling pretty bad right now. It was an excellent publication/website and I learned a lot from it. One has to wonder if there are more disappointments to come. But at least we can all still meet up on this forum! agg I understand. I have OnOne as well but think I should be able to extend my plus membership as a result of this offer. Mine is set to expire in September. Rick has been more than generous to PE users over the years. I never understood why Adobe didn't direct people to this wonderful resource more. I did get a pamphlet about the magazine when I first got PE 6.....but it was never played up. But yes, this site continues to grow and has a good base of committed members.

Oh, is that a possibility, to keep the forum active? I could live with that. I believe Julie is referring to this forum here -- Photoshop Elements & More. We are not related in any shape or form to the PET site, i.e., they are not our parent site. We are a new fresh forum.
You may be thinking of the Elements Village forum, which closed down last year. PET was their parent site.
Yes, I was thinking of Elements Village. I thought this forum was its new version. Cool, glad to hear this forum will still be here.

... However, we will (hopefully) have this forum for a long time yet which is absolutely invaluable, as far as I'm concerned. Without this forum, I'd certainly be lost Yes, just to clarify, as Sepiana mentions, I am refering to PSE&M forum. Thanks, Sepiana

This is sad news. Photoshop Elements Technique has been an incredible source of information and inspiration for me. I would like to thank Mr. Rick Lepage, as well as his close team members and contributors for their generous implication and the enthusiasm they were able to transmit. I already have downloaded all the issues of the magazine, but I certainly do not have the patience nor the time to download the videos one by one. I am sorry to see all this valuable material simply disappear. I suppose that, all in all, the required resources, energy and motivation were not sufficient anymore to manage otherwise.
With no global table of content and no more search tool available, the magazine will become less appealing to consult.
Photoshop Elements Technique with The Missing Manual are the two main references that started me on not only with Photoshop Elements, but also with digital photography and digital photo editing in general. I hear that the publication of The Missing Manual has also been abandoned. “Toute bonne chose a une fin”, it seems.
On the bright side, a sincere and determined desire to maintain Photoshop Elements and More active has been reiterated. Again, I would like to extend my grateful appreciation to the administrators and all the participating members of this convivial sharing community.

I also got the email yesterday... what a sad day, but I was not totally surprised either. It does seem Elements is not as strong as when it first came out. I have been busy downloading some of the videos to keep as a reference tool when I need help.... and I need LOTS of help!!
I am sure happy PSE & More is still very active and growing!!

Bellow is an update posted in the PET Blog on July 18 by Mr. LePage. Dear PET community,
Most of you know that we are in the process of closing Photo One, the publishers of Photoshop Elements Techniques and ON1 Photo magazines. The magazine websites will close on August 5, and I know that many people are frantically working to download videos and tutorials from our archives, but that is a daunting task, and I know many folks are enjoying the summer holidays and are far from their computers.
I am trying to find a home for most of the tutorials, however. It probably won’t happen until after August 5, but once the site closes, I will put a static web page up at this address. As things happen, I will let folks know the status of things.
Understand that there are tens of gigabytes of applicable videos, and a few gigabytes of PDF tutorials that are in the process of being archived. I will do my best to make them available to everyone, free of charge.
I am not doing anything, however, about the Web tutorials. The majority of them are more than 8 years old, and have little relevance to most folks because they deal with very old versions of Elements. If you’d like to look at those and see if there’s something you’d like to save, check out the Web tutorials listing pages. You should be able to print them out easily. (Go to a tutorial you want to keep, click the Print link in the bar above the article but underneath the headline. That should give you a fairly clean copy to print out.)
If you did not receive the email about the closure, send us an email to that effect to customersupport@photoonemedia.com.
Lastly, we would like to say thanks, from the bottom of our hearts, for outpouring of love and support that Diana and I have received from the PET community since the announcement. This was a very hard decision for us to make; we probably went on longer than we should have, but we felt an obligation to you, our dear readers, to make a go of it. We have loved you all, and wish you nothing but the best in your future photographic endeavors. We truly wished that we could have gone on publishing this little magazine forever.
Sincerely, Rick

Fauxtoto,
Thanks! I am going to post the link to the PET blog so that Rick's message can be read in its original context. There is a Q&A section below the announcement in which Rick has posted some more details about this closure and has addressed some of their members' concerns.

Wow! I was without a computer for nine months and all of this just seems so tragic! This is the only thread I found that is still accessible to explain what happened. Not much detail, but at least I have a bit of the story. Sepiana the link you posted is no longer working. Well, I guess the question is "Will there be a PE 14" and what does the future hold? Thanks again to those who kept the story updated. Opher

Sepiana the link you posted is no longer working. Hi opherb, welcome to PSE&M! When I posted that link, the PET site was still up and running. That's no longer the case; it explains why the link is not working now. The PET site with its blog, gallery, tutorials, magazine, etc. was in no shape or form related to Adobe. Therefore, their closing down will have no effect on Adobe and on Photoshop Elements. As to Elements 14 -- this version was released about one year ago.
