I have just received an email with the sad news that the PET site and their magazine will be shutting down on 31-Jul-2016.
Sad times...

Not really surprised at any site shutting down. People are not spending time on their desktops or even on their laptops really participating in these kinds of site - they are on social media doing 5 word blurbs - using their phones. Digital Scrapbooking is suffering the same downturn.

Janice,
You are correct, people use social media groups and YouTube to learn these days. I have to admit that I had already decided not to renew my subscription this year, as I just could not justify the cost when set against the amount I was learning from the magazine and the site overall. It is a shame, however, it is a sign of the times and I can very well understand why subscriptions are down.

Sad to see this magazine and it's website go, but not too surprised - it's another disheartening sign of the times. As a subscriber for many years I will take advantage of their parting "gifts" however.

I just read the email and am heartbroken. Even though I was not an active participant in the forums, I was an enthusiastic reader and totally in awe of the kind, generous, and knowledgeable people who did participate. I don't do the social media stuff and really counted on the PET website and magazine for info and tips.
Guess I'll be spending a lot of my time downloading tutorials and such!
Thanks to all who made this magic happen.

I didn't renew my subscription when it came up earlier this year. I have a lot of the back issues saved on my IPad and refer to them occasionally, it was a good source of info and great tutorials.

I reread the email just now. What does this mean: "... the Photoshop Elements market has been steadily declining..." ? Are PSE users a dying breed? Is PSE obsolete? Geez, and I was just getting comfortable with PSE 10!

I'm a bit annoyed as I payed my subscription earlier part of the year & would't be surprised if they new the difficulties back then.

tourerjimCheck your email. They have offered subscribers a considerable compensation.

I've had the same email. I renewed my subscription last year, for two years, so that wouldn't have expired until May 2017. However, as hmca says, the offer they have is definitely considerable compensation. i've enjoyed having PET there when I've wanted it and am sad it's not continuing. However, we will (hopefully) have this forum for a long time yet which is absolutely invaluable, as far as I'm concerned. Without this forum, I'd certainly be lost

My subscription goes through 2017 but I haven't received an email. Should I wait a bit, or contact them, do you all think?

The offer seems to expire at the same time PET does and you need the links in the e-mail to get the gifts. I have downloaded On1 10.5.1, but haven't installed it yet, and also signed up for a free year on On1 Plus. The On1 Site is soooo slow, waiting for the next page timed me out twice. Probably everybody is busy downloading. Rita

We are not related in any shape or form to the PET site, i.e., they are not our parent site. We are a new fresh forum.
You may be thinking of the Elements Village forum, which closed down last year. PET was their parent site.

tourerjim Check your email. They have offered subscribers a considerable compensation. That's true, but my subscription is paid up to September 2017 and I already have On1 10.5.1. I'm really sorry to see it go, and I'm sure the editorial staff are all feeling pretty bad right now. It was an excellent publication/website and I learned a lot from it. One has to wonder if there are more disappointments to come. But at least we can all still meet up on this forum! agg
