Hi, I'm new to Elements, I have version 14. Previously I was using photoshop cs3, and I'm trying to work out how to customize my workspace into a similar layout. I'd like to make the toolbar a single column for example. I think I'm on the right track with the layers and effects panels. So I'd like to here about what some of the people in here have done in this area. Also are there any tutorials about this specifically?

Hi stevelasonphoto, welcome to PSE&M! Glad to have you here.
You cannot change the Tools panel to a single-column format as it was possible in earlier versions of Elements. Starting with Elements 11, this panel is now fixed in place. You cannot move it, resize it, or change its format (single-column vs double-column).
You may want to check this tutorial. It shows how to customize your workspace. It is written for Elements 11 but it also applies to Elements 12 through Elements 14.

riandei, you are most welcome! Glad to share.
I myself find this video very helpful. It really helped me when I got Elements 11.
