I have thoughtlessly clicked that "Okay" button in the little jpeg quality box thousands of times; the information, once set SHOULD remain the same. However, I discovered that is not always the case. According to the KB versus MB size, I ?think? it only affected three images before I caught it; the little number square where I always keep a 10 was blue and had a zero; I did not think to see what the slider said, but when I put a zero in that square, the slider automatically went to nothing. The only thing I can think of that may have caused this is I pinned "layer mask" in E+ to the "effects" pallet and that required me to delete two different files/folders/somethings and restart Elements; if that created the situation, what else did it change ? I was able to retrieve the PSDs of those affected jpegs and save new jpegs over them; one really good reason to always keep a PSD. Here is what my box looks like: I am unsure, but I think my option at the bottom also got changed; it now is "progressive" Baseline (standard), Baseline Optimized, and Progressive are my three choices along with "scans" I do not understand what any of these choices do. Which of the three is my best choice ? Thanks for reading.

BuckSkin, The only thing I can think of that may have caused this is I pinned "layer mask" in E+ to the "effects" pallet and that required me to delete two different files/folders/somethings and restart Elements; if that created the situation, what else did it change ? This should have had no effect on the JPEG Options dialog. I believe you are talking about deleting the MediaDatabase.db3 and/or the ThumbDatabase.db3 file. These databases are not connected whatsoever with these options. I may be wrong but this may be just a case of Elements "misbehaving". According to the Help file,
Here is how you do this in Elements 7.
Hold down Alt-Ctrl-Shift immediately after Elements starts launching. Click Yes to delete the Adobe Photoshop Elements settings file.

I started this reply earlier today, heard a shot like field artillery, and the whole neighborhood went black; a couple hours later the lights came back on; then, for entirely unrelated reasons, the internet quit working until just a few minutes ago--- their end, not mine.
Thanks for rescuing me again.
As for deleting the preferences, isn't there a path I can navigate to get there; I never have had much success trying that CTRL,ALT,SHIFT business.
I appreciate the help.
I find it interesting that, out of the five thick Elements 7 books that we have, not a single one of them offers more than passing mention of the jpeg save options box.

It is all a matter of timing between launching Elements and pressing the key combo. If you wait too long, Elements will open as usual and the message box won't pop up. You need to click on the desktop shortcut and immediately press the three keys. It helps if you have your fingers positioned on the three keys before you click on the shortcut.
Yes, you can locate the Editor's Preferences file and manually delete it. Navigate the path below and delete the Adobe Photoshop Elements 7 Prefs.psp file. (Make sure Elements is closed while you do this.)
C:\Users\[user name]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\7.0\Editor\Adobe Photoshop Elements 7 Prefs.psp
NOTE: Elements has two separate Preferences file, one for the Organizer and one for the Editor. The two procedures described will affect only the Editor's Preferences file.

Thanks again.
I just snipped that and put it in my archives where I won't be able to find it the next time I need it.
