Colin, Sometimes I get email notifications, but mostly I do not. I don't know what is happening there... Do you not see the smileys I show above? Can you give me a link for a power supply? Also do you recommend any screen protection for my Nexus 9 for finger print smears or do you not worry about that?

Hi Charles... Yup, new site new name :-) Still learning how to use it and I'm not getting my email notifications yet, nor can I find the smilies! PSU = Power Supply Unit. Some smaller hard drives are capable of being powered via the Usb data cable. Some larger ones can't because they need more power. Tablets don't generally provide much power on the USB connector so a seperate supply is needed. Colin Hi Colin, You have to click Profile, Edit profile then Notifications to turn on the email notifications. If you use the Quick Reply window you don't see the tool bar, but if you use Reply or Quote you will. Hope that helps!

Thanks for the tip on the Reply options....with a wide screen display it was a long way across to the normal Reply button . I have the Notifications set to email me but the only one I've received so far in this thread is about the reply I posted. Maybe things will settle down soon as we get used to the new home. Colin

Hi Tom, I have gone to Profile, Edit Profile, Notifications and found there are a gazillion options there. They all say never except one (which I do not remember changing) which is 'Participated' which 'daily' is selected, but I do not remember changing that plus I do not always get notifications when someone has posted a note to the threads I have participated in. Another question I have. At EV there was a way I could follow a thread without posting anything in the thread using the thread tools. Is there a way to do that here?

Charles,
You may want to check this document from our Help file. I believe it will help you with your question about following a thread even if you are not participating in it.

Yes, there ARE a lot of events to play with! The default is never for all of them almost. You can bookmark a thread to follow it without posting to it. I suggest turning on all the notifications and checking all the boxes. Most never happen so it doesn't really matter. Once a day you get an email for the threads you participated in if they get a new post.

How do I bookmark a thread to follow it without posting in it? Thank you Inspeqtor, If you look at the top of a thread you should see a drop down box with Actions written on it. In there you have the "Bookmark" option.

Thank you Actually, you need to select the thread before you can bookmark it. If you hover your mouse cursor to the left of the thread title a checkbox wish become visible. Check that to select the thread, then in the actions drop-down you will see the bookmark choice. You can select several threads at once to be bookmarked if you wish.

Also note that just posting in a thread doesn't automatically bookmark it. When you post you also have to check the bookmark box as well if you want it to be bookmarked.

I was able to select 2 threads to quote in one post Now when I bookmark a thread, then I will be notified when a new post is made in a thread, is this correct? Thank you Bayla, I was 'assuming' posting in a thread would be automatic notification. That would not be correct.....
