I just read the following article on 10 items that you can get at pretty much any supermarket/DIY shop and re-purpose for your photography.
Some of them are some nifty idea, which I had not previously thought about.
So, I wonder, what run-of-the-mill items have you used in your photography that aren't necessarily meant for that task?
In some of my still life experiments I have used bull-dog clips to hold background paper in place. I am also known to always have a roll of invisible sewing thread at home, which comes in handy when I want to suspend an item and not spend tons of time in cloning the thread out (although some clean up work is still required in most cases). I have just shaving foam to create clouds and a cornflower/water mix to simulate milk.
