Nicole Young posted this neat tutorial about creating a collage inside of LR. She makes it appear quick and easy, take a look..... link

I finally found the templates - she sort of left that off in her video. Thanks for the link!

Having placed a post here photoshopelementsandmore.com/thread/2756/storm-clouds-on-horizon I'm beginning to think I should give lightroom a try who knows I might just like it but having to spend hours with pse just difficult to find time, I assume lightroom limits what pse can do.? not even got around to finding out about it other than a friend suggested to try it.

I swore I would never try lightroom but I broke down and bought the non cloud version. I like it - but it's different than PSE!! It is non destructive which is great, you can always go back to your original photos and start over. You can see all your adjustments in your history. Steep learning curve but like PSE there are tons of tutorials out there. I have the Kelby book and Victoria Brampton book. The Brampton book reads like an encyclopedia but I think as I get more comfortable with LR I will find it more useful. I still use PSE a lot for the more artsy side - LR doesn't do layers so you can't add textures etc .

So funny to read Judy's (blackmutt) comment above because I was the same way. I had subscribed to PSCC for well over a year, possibly two, before I finally decided to give LR a try. I found the whole catalogue/importing process very confusing at first. I have my LR photos and catalogue on an EHD. Since I moved from importing photos from my camera card, to creating a folder structure that works for me as far as organization on the EHD. I then import those photos into LR; things have worked much better for me. I had been an Aperture user so never used PE/PSCC organizer. I am gradually becoming more comfortable with LR, and thus discovering how powerful the develop module is, but I can't say it was an easy transition for me. There are lots of helpful tuts and books.....Anthony Morganti has some great youtube stuff. Facebook has an active Lightroom Help Group that is also a good resource. My library provides access to the Lynda.com series for free to members. This has proved most helpful. I like these little two minute videos that Nicole S. Young is producing. I have way too many LR presets and only a few that I like. I have now created a Favorite Group, following her directions in the video above, which I am very happy with. I am contemplating purchasing her How to Master Lightroom Two Minutes at a TimeHope you find this information somewhat helpful, Jim.

I struggled with the whole import/catalogue issue at first (slow learner I guess) even though I found the organizer in PSE very easy to understand. I just needed to think the same way in LR. I took a four hour course locally that did not help at all (was mostly a class of look at the instructors photos) so that only added to my frustration. I took a deep breath and went very slowly and imported only a couple of photos at a time and played with photos that I could destroy and not care. I now import from camera card or computer hard drive with ease. I can't say I understand it 100% but it's coming easier. I too have LR on an external hard drive. I learn a little something every week and find the internet a great FREE source.
