I'm a recent convert from a PC to a MacBook (6 months or so now), and I'm still not liking the Mac much. I've been a PC user for probably 25 years now, and I kept hearing how working with photos is so much easier on a Mac, so I bought one. As a result, I do most of my photo work Monday through Friday, while I'm at work, on a PC. A lot of what I don't like about the Mac is file handling. I'm getting used to it, and can make my around the Mac fairly well, just not close to as fast as I can on a PC. Anyways... my question is, when I'm going through my files in finder, I cannot find the exif data anywhere. All it shows when I bring up "more info" is the title of the pic, like dsc0128.jpeg. No camera make, model, focal length, lens, settings, etc.... everything I can easily find on a PC. I've tried googling, and it just tells me it's in "more info".... but it's not. I just googled how to take a screenshot on my mac, so here it is: So, it is something on my Mac I need to adjust, or something on my camera? (Sony a6000). TIA.

Although I have always wanted to, I have never had the privilege of using a MAC, so I won't be of much help with your question.
That being said, I, too, am always reading of how much better a MAC is for image editing.
However, I find it curious that probably 95% of image editing programs are geared toward Windows with MAC more or less being secondary.
In the FREE software world, many image editing programs aren't even available for MAC.
If MAC is so good with image editing, one would think that it would be better represented in image editing programs than PC.

Hi Wendy, You may want to check that your Sony has the latest firmware, as it states that it fixes this issue. I do not shoot Sony, however a friend of mine does and this is what my MAC shows. Just an FYI, In the free software world, what image editing program comes installed on a PC? All MACs come with either Photos or IPhoto right out of the box. It is a very good free editor and organizer. Most PC based freeware programs usually don't have a MAC equivalent, just like 2500+ plus photo apps for MAC, don't have a PC version.

Wendy - after being in Windows for 25 years and still working with it - and now switching to a Mac - there are bound to be times of confusion. I know I would find it hard to do things differently (Mac's old moto "Think Different!). One thing that I have heard from a person that repairs and works with both operating systems is that people that switch just need to learn to not "think so hard" about how files work in Macs. What in particular do you see is causing the "slow down" in you finding things on the Mac? ~bruce.
