I find I can load brushes, but they are there temporarily. How do I permanently load brushes? I already have some, but don't remember how they got there. Thanks

Jean,
You need to install the .abr files in the appropriate folder within Elements. I believe you are on Windows. If so, just navigate the path below and paste the files in the Brushes folder.
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 14\Presets\Brushes

Thanks for helping. I have PSE14 on a PC with Windows 7 Professional. I go to the Brush Tool; Load Brushes, then go to the site you mentioned. The brushes that are already loaded to my Brush tool are in that document. However, there is no "Load" at the bottom. If I go to My Documents/Brushes/brushes, I click on the ABR I want, and click "Load" at the right hand bottom. The brush loads. Then click Save. However, when I go to load another brush, the just loaded brush vanishes. I do have about ten brushes already loaded, but I think they appeared when I changed from PSE 11 to 14. I haven't played much with photos for about five years, and my mind is a bit hazy. Doing a photobook.

Jean,
This is what you need to do.
NOTE: Keep Elements closed until you are done with this installation process.
1. Click on the Start button, the Windows logo, on the Taskbar. 2. Click on Computer in the menu that pops up. 3. Click on your Hard Disk drive, OS (C:), to open it. 4. Scroll down to the Program Files folder. Click to open it. 5. Click to open the Adobe folder. 6. Scroll down to Photoshop Elements 14 (file folder). Click to open it. 7. Scroll down to the Presets folder. Click to open it. 8. Click on the Brushes folder at the top of the list. 9. Paste the .abr files into the Brushes folder.
In short, you will be navigating this path.
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 14\Presets\Brushes

Yes, they are in that folder. But the question is how do I get them into the Brush tool to use whenever I want. I thought that was what "Load" was for. Sorry to be so dense. Appreciate your time.

Jean,
You have two choices -- either you load brushes or you install them. It is usually suggested that you load brushes to temporarily make them available to the Brush tool in the case of brushes that you may not use very often. When you install brushes in the Brushes folder, you are making them available to the Brush tool on a permanent basis. All you have to do is . . .
1. Activate the Brush tool. 2. Bring up the Brush panel
The brushes you installed in the Brushes folder will be there waiting for you.

Understand now that it is a good idea to only load temporarily. There are only a few I use often. Thanks for the explanation. We can always count on you. Jean

I am not a Mac user. So, I am going out on a limb here. Hopefully a Mac user will correct me if I am wrong.
