I created a postcard that had many layers, and saved it in .psd in case I wanted to change anything in the future; however, when I open it now it is flat and there are no layers shown. What did I do wrong? And is there a way to get those layers back so that I don't have to re-do the whole thing?
Thanks in advance.

Wendy -
Hard to say what went wrong, but unfortunately, there is no way to get the layers back once a file is flattenned. Did you happen to save your work in progress so you at least have something to go back to?

I'm not sure what or how it happened Other projects I did that same day open up with all layers showing. Perhaps I wasn't thinking, and merged them before saving, who knows? I ended up just cloning put the part I had to change, made the changes (on a new layer) saved it as .psd, and THAT one opened up with the 2 layers. Thanks for trying to help!

Elements is designed to NOT flatten a .psd file. I can think of two possible scenarios where a .psd file would be saved as a flattened file (no layers).
The first scenario -- One flattens the file before saving it.
The second scenario -- One tells Elements to get rid of the layers during the Save As process by turning off the "Layers" box. However, if this happens, Elements will automatically give you a warning and will make sure the flattened .psd file is saved as a copy.
