Welcome to this week’s IOW presentation. First off I want to say a special thank you to Pauline (Rapata) who traded judging stints with me at the last moment this week due to the fact I will be away when my assigned rotation comes around. So, thank you Pauline! With that said it’s time to shine the spotlight on what I consider to be some very fine and intriguing images.
Honourable Mentions (in no particular order):
Peach Harvest – sargenta1
An interesting juxtaposition of freshly harvested peaches which appear to be thick, ripe and juicy being carried on a time worn truck which appears to have seen better days with its faded paint, creases and missing head lamp. Whether this was a tight shot or later cropped, it works marvelously to bring out the juxtaposed effect. Perhaps I was in the mood for a peach at the time, but I like it!
The Shard from the Sky Garden - alexr
This is such a cool snippet of life in the 21st century with people in the foreground taking selfies with a very impressive towering obelisk rising high in the sky in the background. I really like the geometry of the parallel window lines. I found this image utterly fascinating, almost futuristic. George Jetson roaring by in his back to the future aerocar would not have been out of place in this one!
The Evening Commute – dandc
I love the simplicity and soft glow of the field, hills and clouds in this image -it is so serene to gaze upon up. And what an interesting and dramatic sky. Living in a city of more than 4 million people, I wanted to instantly teleport myself into the picture!
Image of the Week:
To the Beach – drjoerogers
This image really struck a chord with me. Perhaps it was time spent in Florida which it reminded me of with what looks to be some wisps of sea oats looming in the right hand side of the picture. I love how this image was composed and the minimalistic aspects to it with a wooden railing as the main subject and the subtle whispers of blue, green and yellow it contains. A definite case of less is more. The stairs fading into the edges is a very nice effect as is the overall processing. This image is top of the pops for me this week!
And so it goes for another week. Along with those highlighted, I want to thank everyone who made submissions to their gallery this week – you are all winners in my book! Wishing everyone a pleasant week with hopes that it brings lots of smiles and sunshine your way
