Hello all,
I am running PS Elements 8 on an iMac under OS X 10.11.5.
Is there a way to lock palettes (e.g. 'Effects', 'Layers', 'Color Swatches' in position on the right side of the PSE 8 work window, please?
Sincerely, ranger123.

I am using PSE11 on a Mac - maybe yours is the sameAt the bottom of the layers palette, there is an option called "more" If you click on "more", there will be the option "custom workspace" Click that and your layers pallette will change to this: (there is also the option to open more panels)
You move from layers, to effects, to graphics by clicking on the word. If you want them all open at once, grab the gray area and drag it away from the others. You can have single columns or you can attach them together. The weird thing about pulling the pallets/panels away from the main group is that when I minimize PSE, those 'rogue' palettes stay on my desktop and have to manually be closed. I haven't discovered how to make them go away automatically when I minimize.

Hello cats4jan, I apologise for my lack of response to your kind reply of 19 October 2016. I experience protracted difficulties with my iMac around that time, necessitating erasure of internal HD, reinstallation of OS X and all other software suites and, of course, loss of all Mailbox and Safari bookmark data. I must have appeared quite rude when your generous assistance elicited no response from me. Again, I apologise. I have raised the same issue again yesterday with 'Sepiana' replying. I answered her raised questions and the illustrate the differences between the Layers palette in PSE 11 (as you kindly attached to your 2016 response) and the PSE 8 Layer Palette can be shown in the attached file. Thanking you belatedly for your generous advice, I remain Yours sincerely, ranger1.
