Hi nightowl226, welcome to PSE&M!
There have been many reports about the Liquify filter making Elements crash, stop working, freeze. The causes for this seem to vary and so do the fixes.
Has this always happened when you use this filter? Or is it something which began happening all of a sudden?
If the problem has always been there, you may want to check your video card/driver. You may need to update it.
If this is a new development, you may want to delete the Preferences file. According to the Help file . . .
Go to Edit>Preferences>General (Adobe Photoshop Elements Editor>Preferences> . . . on a Mac). Click on the "Reset Preferences on next launch" button. Ignore the "This cannot be undone." warning and click OK. Close Elements and then start it again.
