Is anyone else experiencing this. In PSE 15 when I open up a photo it is coming in at an enormous size in some cases almost 100% while if I open the very same photo in PSE 13 it comes in at around half that size. I'm at a loss to understand why this should be. I can't find anything in Preferences which might account for this. If anyone has any suggestions or ideas as to how this is happening and how this behaviour can be changed I'd be most grateful.

I don't really know what is happening. But I do have a question.
-- Did you check the narrow bar just above the Tool Options/Photo Bin area? What does it say? 100%? In both versions?
I did some testing. I opened the same image in Elements 13 and 15. The image was displayed in both versions at 100%. I even used the Ruler to check. There was no difference.

I did more testing. I opened a huge file (over 3000 px on the longest side). In both versions (13 and 15) the image opened exactly the same -- at 33.23%. Once again I used the Ruler to double-check. No difference.

To answer your question Sepiana because in my Preferences I have 'Allow floating documents in Expert mode' set up, when the photos come in they are so big that they almost fill the whole screen and the narrow bar above the Tool Options is almost off screen and hidden behind my taskbar. I have to adjust the photo by dragging it in from the corners and in doing that of course it changes the percentage.
I have a two monitor set up and since posting I have discovered that this phenomena only occurs if I open PSE 15 up in one of the monitors as opposed to the other. Why this should be I don't know as PSE 13 behaves ok on either monitor and both monitors are set to the same resolution.

I am flying blind here . . .
Try turning off "Allow floating documents . . ." in both versions. See what happens.
I also have both Elements 13 and 15 installed on a second machine with a higher resolution monitor. I am not seeing the problem you describe.

Elements 13 is fine whether Floating or Fixed on either monitor. Here is what happens in PSE 15 - the picture I used is an old one of my own and it is 3072x2304 pixels and 180 resolution. The top example opened in PSE 15 (on my first monitor) as a 'fixed' document and as you can see it opened at 43.19% with a scroll bar on the right side and along the bottom. The 2nd example is the same photo opened as a 'floating' document. It covers the whole screen and was also at 43.19%. It actually opened in my second monitor and I dragged it over on top of PSE 15 for the sake of the screen snip. But if I open PSE 15 and use it on the second monitor everything is as it should be whether floating or fixed. It is so strange. I'm sorry if I'm not explaining this very well but it's not the easiest of things to put into words.

BillieJean, no need to apologize! I understood what you were trying to describe. At this point I have no clue what is going on. Hopefully, someone else will come to the rescue. Hang in there!

Thank you Sepiana for trying to help.
I think I have stumbled upon what may be causing this and it has nothing to do with PSE 15.
It seems that some of us who have dual/multiple monitor set ups have been affected by the Windows 10 Upgrade. Indeed from some comments I've read I am one of the lucky ones in that both my monitors work pretty much as they did before the update.
Some have been left only able to get their display on a single monitor. I have to do more in depth research to see if there is a solution to the problem but at least I can get 15 to work as it should if I use one monitor in particular and it also works fine on my laptop. I'm thinking that the reason my versions 11 and 13 still work OK on both monitors is that they were both installed under Windows 7 before the Win 10 Upgrade. It's a theory at least! When using dual monitors before the Upgrade if I went into Display Settings and clicked on 'detect' it would tell me that it had detected both monitors but since the Upgrade it only 'detects' one despite the fact that both monitors are actually working fine and it's only this experience with PSE 15 that has brought this to my attention.
One lives and learns…so more research to do…
