How do I invert using Photoshop Elements. Using Jai Johnson's Unpredicables, and trying to put one onto a coloured background. Instructions from Corel Paintshop call for "Invert to get negative image". Cant find how to do this. Help.

Hi,
As I have no idea what Jai Johnson's Unpredicables are I am having a stab in the dark here and assume you want to invert an image, in which case go to Image - Adjustments - Invert I believe.

Controli worked like a charm. thanks Major Major Storkington; Jai Johnson has a series of masks on white called Unpredictables. She put out a video using Corel Paintshop on how to change the background to colour; and I was trying to convert that to use in PSE 14. Under Image I don't have Adjustment

I think Adjustments can be found in the Filters menu.

Under Image I don't have Adjustment That's the location for this command in Photoshop. In Elements this command is under the Layer menu -- Layer>New Adjustment Layer>Invert.
You can also go via the Layers panel. Click on the "Create new fill or adjustment layer" icon select "Invert" from the menu.

In Elements this command is under the Layer menu -- Layer>New Adjustment Layer>Invert That is an adjustment layer; the invert image (Ctrl-I) is under Filter>Adjustments.

Yes, you are quite correct. Thanks for catching my mistake!
BTW, there is more than one way to achieve a negative effect in Elements. The end result will be the same.
- Filter>Adjustments>Invert (whose shortcut is Ctrl/Cmmd-I). - Layer>New Adjustment Layer>Invert - Layers panel>Create new fill or adjustment layer icon>Invert.
The advantage of taking the Adjustment layer route is that it gives you more editing flexibility. If you take the Filter (Ctrl-I) route, you need to make sure you are working on a duplicate layer because the effect will be applied directly on the layer.

Sorry, my Photoshop head and Elements head are still getting confused at time! Sorry from me too! I said the Invert command was under the Layer menu. Glad Tom is keeping an eye on me! He caught it.
