Already frustrated because my camera crapped out on me, but now I can't import my pictures. I went from a Canon 7d to the 7d MkII. Doing everything the same, shooting in RAW, but when I try to import the pictures I get the message "Nothing was imported. The file(s) or folder(s) selected to import did not contain any supported file types, or the files are already in the catalog." Well if they're in the catalog, I can't see them, and they are the same .cr2 files as I've always imported. The only difference I see is the actual file name, which changed from img_.cr2 to 4k9-.cr2. I'm using Windows 10. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

I've done a little bit of troubleshooting, and I've discovered that PSE will import a jpeg, but not raw files.

More troubleshooting; using my old camera, PSE automatically imports photos I've downloaded to my computer. PSE will not automatically import photos taken with my new camera, and then I get that error message when I try to manually import them.

I think it may depend on what version of Elements you are using. Camera RAW version 8.7 is needed to open the CR files from the 7D Mark II. If your version of PE doesn't have this version of Camera RAW you can download a DNG converter from Adobe. Sepiana, Michel B or one of our other members will surely be able to offer more help.

Hi seattleddc. Photoshop Elements 13 will definitely import your CR2 files. You might get away with Elements 12 but I'm not sure if it has the minimum v8.7 of ACR.. To see what version of Adobe Camera Raw you have, one easy way is to click the "Toggle Full Screen" icon (next to the histogram in my ACR) and go out of full screen mode. Then in the ACR window in the top left hand corner you will see the Adobe Camera Raw version you are using.
What version of PSE are you using?
I have PSE 14 and have no problems importing RAW files from Canon and Nikon cameras.

I just purchased PSE 14. Way easier. Thanks for the help in letting me know my version wasn't compatible. I would have struggled with this for a long time.

I'm pleased to hear you have resolved your problem seattleddc ! I think that the problem is not so much which version of PSE you are using as which version of ACR you have installed (although the two are linked). It may not matter now, but you can always check camera RAW compatibility here: Cameras supported by Camera Raw. Also, you can check which version of ACR you currently have in Elements by clicking on Help> About Plug-In> Camera Raw.

Well now I have a different issue; can't figure out how to reload my plugins and my brushes and fonts. Somebody, please make this stop!!! Oh, and my furnace went out today, so I got that going for me also. So.... if anyone can help me with the plugin, brush, and font issue, I would greatly appreciate that. Thank goodness for the most accommodating folks on here.

Hi seattleddc,
I would suggest you post your questions concerning this issue on the Photoshop Elements Editor board. In this way, they won't get buried in this Organizer-related thread and they will get the attention they deserve. In the case of the plug-ins, please, be specific as to which plug-ins you are talking about. Also, we need to know which version of Elements you had before you upgraded to Elements 14.

(well, I don't think we will be able to assist with the furnace, but can understand that sucks!). This may not be particularly helpful, but at least shows you are not alone in these issues: migrating to PSE 15However, the easy answer for the plugins is to copy and paste the contents of the plugins folder from you most recent version of PSE to the new one. If you need more details about how to do this just ask!

We don't know which version of Elements seattleddc had before upgrading to Elements 14. This means that doing a copy/paste job will not work if he had a 32-bit version of this program because Elements 14 is a 64-bit application. 32-bit plug-ins are not compatible with 64-bit hosting programs. Let's hope his previous version of Elements was a 64-bit one!
