Does anyone know if there is a list of features by version? My main interest right now is learning when various features were first introduced (and most specifically, adjustment layers).

I have compiled such a list myself but it covers only Elements 11 and above.
As to Adjustment layers -- they have been around at least since Elements 4.

The adjustment layers available in the earlier versions were limited in that you couldn't just make any layer an adjustment layer; to do so required a work-around.
Once I figured out how to implement them from Elements+, it is my favorite feature.

My apologies! But I am quite confused with this statement. I am not sure which limitation you are talking about. I have been using Elements since version 4 and the "engine" behind creating/using Adjustment layers has been the same throughout versions. What do you mean by not being able to "make any layer an adjustment layer"? Can you give an example?

Hmmmm.....where did it go...I carefully typed a reply a while ago and it somehow did not get posted; I can't even remember just what it was now; that is not the first time I have typed a response and managed to forget to hit the submit button --- oh well........ My apologies for not being able to explain things very well. What I was trying to describe is that, while the earlier versions of Elements do have pre-defined adjustment layers, such as Levels, Hue/Saturation, and the like, they do not have the ability to convert a normal layer into an adjustment layer without borrowing the adjustment layer from one of the pre-defined adjustment layers. Elements+ provided me the ability to turn any plain old layer into an adjustment layer, which is a feature I find to be very handy.

OK. Thanks for the clarification! Now I think I know what you are talking about. Please, correct me if I am wrong.
You are talking about layer masks. Earlier versions of Elements (version 8 and earlier) didn't have layer masks. A workaround was to use Elements+ to add this feature to those versions. Another workaround was to create an Adjustment layer and "hijack" its mask.

BTW, Adjustment layers were also available all the way back in Elements 2.

Now I feel kinda dumb; YES, I was getting adjustment layers and layer masks mixed up. I am glad you questioned my statement as someone needed to unconfuse me. Thanks.
