I've run into a bug in Elements15 which is making me think of reverting back to Elements14 because it is a serious interruption to my workflow. I started a discussion in the Adobe Community forum and found that many others had the same issue. The Adobe techs gave me a short-term solution, but have not responded yet as to a "fix" for the problem.
The bug is: if the list of recent files in your Editor has reached 100 the editor stops tracking your recent files. I find this disrupting because when I go back into my Editor after I've been away, I rely on recent files to pull up the last image(s) I was working on.

I can't imagine that seeing 100 of the most recent files is useful. Why don't you set the number of files to something quite a bit lower. I use 20, and most of the time that's perfectly adequate.

Major, Major, it doesn't matter what you set the number to (I use 10}. Once the Editor has loaded 100 images, it freezes.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention srmoment ! The thread on the Adobe Forum containing the discussion can be found hereApparently a "fix" of sorts has been reported by a user there on 12/28/2016:

I haven't tried that fix, but the one given me by Adobe is:
For Windows users: Press windows key (on keyboard) plus R write %appdata% and OK now go to Adobe/Photoshop Elements/15.0 rename the folder "Editor" to "Editor old" (..note...I delete Editor old first before renaming Editor) launch the application
...you will then need to redo your preferences in Editor - General - Allow Floating Documents; Units and Rulers - change to your specifications; and Guides + Grid - I use Gridlines every 100 percent, subdivision 3 ..{others may differ).

I will also give the other suggestion a try to see which works best.

As I understand it, it doesn't matter what size you set the list to; after there have been 100 different images edited the list will stop updating.

I'll have to use it a little while longer - kinda sure I've already edited over 100 images (But not 100% sure) and it seems to be working correctly.

It seems like it would be hard to spot, that's for sure. However, I have looked for an image I know I very recently edited but it did no show up in the Recent list. I will just have to pay more attention from now on to see if it is happening to me. There were a number of people on the Adobe forum that claimed it was happening to them, so *something* is go on...

This is happening to me too with PSE 15. I wouldn’t have thought that I’d edited a hundred or more images yet but the recently edited files had certainly stopped working. I didn’t realise it at first but this thread brought it to my attention and I did a test and the file didn’t show up.
I have now followed the instructions for the ‘fix’ given in tpgetty’s post earlier in this thread and it’s working again. For how long I don’t know. It would be good if they could come out with a permanent fix for this problem.
For info only: I had my files list set to 20 which I think must be the default setting as I didn’t change it.

Well, that fix will work only until you edit another 100 files.

I can confirm the problem on my Elements 15. The problem is also in the Organizer.

Adobe probably will if this becomes a widespread issue, i.e., a severely one, to the point of crippling Elements performance. Adobe has been known to release patches or, I should say, updates in between versions to address such issues. If the problem is not a "critical" one, if a given workaround will do, Adobe tends to hold on and fix the problem with the release of the next version of Elements. The best thing we can all do is to provide Adobe with as much feedback as possible. And the best place to do it is on this forum.
