If you ever wanted to know what light pillars are, this little article with a wonderful photo shot in Canada came to the light in the Canadian press this week. Enjoy!

Another reminder that there is nothing as wonderful as nature...I've heard of the Northern Lights but this was a new one on me - thank you for sharing...

Glad you enjoyed this Lillias!
Living in Canada over the past 7 years has taught me a lot about these wonderful natural phenomena. Not just the northern lights (which we are sometimes lucky enough to witness here in the south), but the light pillars (which I have seen only once and then very faint), but I recently learned about the sun dogs. We had this happen a couple of days in row when it was somewhere around -27C during the day but with wonderful blue bright skies.
There truly is nothing more wonderful than mother nature!

Where I live we see a lot of beautiful rainbows and last year there was one or two nights when as evening came on the whole sky turned wonderful shades of pink and deeper pink. I stood looking at it for ages as I hadn’t seen the likes before. There is a name for it which unfortunately I can’t remember. Again I think it has something to do with temperature and the amount of moisture in the air – but don’t hold me to that as I could be wrong...lol.

Wow, what an amazing photo! That would have been an incredible experience to see something like that. I was in Norway a couple of months ago and talked to the Airbnb host where I stayed in Oslo and he told me he had only seen the northern lights once in his lifetime. I always thought it was an every day experience in that part of the world...lol.

I always thought it was an every day experience in that part of the world...lol. Yes that is any easy mistake to make. We also have that, our family and friends around the world think that we are lucky enough to see the norther lights in the winter every night. They really are surprised when we have to tell them that this far south in Canada you are lucky to get a glimpse once a winter of them.
