I have two catalogues one with 32,000+ photos and the other with 2,000+ so I opted to do a complete backup of the smaller one first.
I've tried several times and each time get this message:
Error encountered while writing file(s) c:ProgramData\Adobe\Elements Organizer\Catalogs\Design16\catalog.pse15db
What do I do now please?

I also asked this in Adobe and someone told me that I need to specify a folder for the backup and not try to do it at the root. I've backed up the small catalog successfully so am now having a go at the larger one.

Thanks for passing on that information ChrisAnn . I had no idea what the problem might have been. I looked for the folder you referenced on my system and didn't see it, so I had nothing to offer. Now that your first backup was successful I expect the other will be as well; I wish you luck!

I had to create a folder before starting the backup process. The big catalog has now been backed up - I did it overnight.

Yes, here is the discussion on the Adobe forum: forums.adobe.com/thread/2266958Unfortunately, the lack of clear information about the necessity to create a specific folder creates frequent issues. You can create the folder during the backup configuration, but I recommend doing it before. Also it's good to give the folder a significant name with a date (you can have several backup folders on the same drive).
