Sepiana You're right--I don't believe I've taken part in the challenge before. I guess the point would have been to go off and find a reflection, but it's just that I logged on and saw that the challenge was "Reflections" and that's exactly what I had been photographing that morning. It was completely still, no breeze at all, and the ponds were glassy. The line you see is either what we would call a dike or else it might be the road into the park. We're on a Fraser river delta island here, and there are dikes (or levees) all over, used for walking and biking. The picture was taken at Iona Beach Park, a bird sanctuary which is in a major migration path, so a great place for birding. I very much enjoyed all the different interpretations of the challenge. agg

There were plenty of reflections last night on Sydney harbour as the Opera House was floodlit in red and fireworks a plenty going off over it. It was all part of Chinese New Year celebrations which kicked off in Sydney last night. It is the year of the rooster.

We have the same situation here. Levees are being "fixed up" to be used as walking/biking trails.

Like this one a lot. Good compositional use of the rule of thirds. Also projects a somber mood, which I like. Just a note to Sepiana and the gang... I'm still around and still watching the threads. I haven't been participating because I lack seasonal inspiration. Winter around here tends to be gray and brown with flat light - just about the worst for photography. Add in cold and windy and my camera usually gets a long rest during winter. Next week is supposed be pretty nice, so maybe I can get out and look around for something.

The things we have in our homes are reflections of ourselves. In the quest for a nut and bolt, I was wondering why, after 20+ years, I'm holding onto a bucket of bolts and nuts that belonged to my father, don't match and have never been of much use to me. I've decided it is time for it to go... _DSC2020.jpg by , on Flickr

Looking forward to your participation in the upcoming WP challenges.
I sympathize with you. Our winter has been nothing but lots of rain, damp cold, and dreary days. Where is the sun?

Similar situation in our home -- 20+ years of keeping a container full of bolts and nuts that belonged to my father-in law and which have been hardly put to good use.

This is late so it doesn't count, but I FINALLY got a reflection photo that I like. Taken from the bus. Thanks Sepiana. It's supposed to turn back into winter in the next couple days, so hopefully my 'cold' photo will be more timely.

Bill, better late than never. This is an image worth waiting for. What a capture! Reflection + motion = an amazing image!

Sargenta1 - Great interpretation of the theme. I have a very old fruit cake container of nuts, bolts, and screws which I "inherited" it from my grandfather. He was a farmer and did all his own fix-it work. Haven't used them but they remind me of him.
