Is there a free (or not very expensive) program that will batch-write the "properties" information, such as Title, Subject, and Comments to all selected files ?
I have been doing this one-at-a-time; it works, but it takes forever.
Thanks for reading.

BuckSkin,
I believe, you mean the Organizer-specific properties (as opposed to the "standard" IPTC metadata). I don't think that there is a third party app for editing the proprietary database by Adobe.
I'd suggest keeping "Title", "Description", and other metadata in the regular IPTC fields instead (that can be batch-edited by many image viewers including the Organizer)

No; I mean the "properties" that display in Explorer at the bottom of the "right-click window" and also viewable in just about all other programs; so, the correct name for that particular data is IPTC, right ? I was unaware that I could batch write to properties from the organizer; I will need to check that out. We have sort of abandoned the organizer on account of it's many undesirable quirks. I experimented with the procedure in XNViewMP, but none of the information displayed where I expected it to; I don't know why they can't just call the title "Title", the subject "Subject" and comments "Comments"; I guess that would make too much sense.

BuckSkin, Organizer 7 doesn't work for me under Win 10. Tried Organizer 15 and FastStone Image Viewer. In Organizer 15: - Select 2 or more images - In the Info panel, click "Edit IPTC" In FastStone Image Viewer: - Select multiple images - Right-click and choose "File Properties" - In the Properties dialog, go to "Details" tab

We have sort of abandoned the organizer on account of it's many undesirable quirks. Well, it's a pity. You don't know how much you are missing now... Here is the IPTC view which is common to the editor and the organizer: host images free

In FastStone Image Viewer: - Select multiple images - Right-click and choose "File Properties" - In the Properties dialog, go to "Details" tab Thank You Thank You THANK YOU! I am an avid admirer of FastStone and have been using it to do this one-by-one; I had no idea that it was possible to do several at once. I have the FastStone user's manual, but it is out-dated and only hits the high spots; the program has far more capabilities than those few mentioned in the manual. I feel kinda dumb having done hundreds of images one-at-a-time when this capability was right there.

Here is the IPTC view which is common to the editor and the organizer: Thanks ! Is that also included in E7 ? I thought I had stumbled across everything there was in both the Editor and Organizer; I will have to see if I can find that. I am assuming that in the Editor only one at a time; and, to do multiples would require the Organizer, right ?

I thought I had stumbled across everything there was in both the Editor and Organizer; I will have to see if I can find that. I am assuming that in the Editor only one at a time; and, to do multiples would require the Organizer, right ? That dialog is not included in E7. I believe it was introduced in version 11; I just did check that it's in PSE12. Anyway, all Elements versions can write metadata to files with the shortcut Ctrl W. That classical solution not only writes the IPTC fields, but the specific fields like notes, which even LR is not able to manage. Using this IPTC dialog does not update the catalog, only the metadata sections in the media files. It not frequently used for two reasons: 1) it's well hidden... 2) the older solution works fine. My advice is to use it because the 'Ctrl W' solution only appends new data and does not delete obsolete ones. If you want to be sure the old ones are deleted, you do two things: - you use the IPTC panel to remove everything from the metadata section of the files - you use the Ctrl W solution to write the present and updated data. It may be useful to know that if you edit such a dialog in the editor, you may save it as a template. Such templates may be selected in the downloader when you download a batch of files to enter your copyright and steady informations. I do like Faststone as much as you do, but I only use it for what PSE can't do. You are right that the editor only works on a single file.

Thank you, Andrei and michelb !
I have been playing around with the FastStone method and I accomplished a couple hundred files in less time than I had been taking to do a very few.
Now, if I could just figure out how to batch-write FastStone jpeg comments; I like them on account of I use an old laptop as a portable photo-album; and, when viewing in FastStone full-screen, I can simply mouse over to the right edge and the jpeg comment will fly-out to be visible.
