I'm using PSE11 and wanted to add a set of 4 brushes. In the process I seem to have managed to wipe out the default brushes that were in the Preset Manager. How can I get them back?

haliburton,
I am not sure what happened. But let's try a few troubleshooting steps. If the first one doesn't fix the problem, try the other two.
1. Activate the Brush tool. Go to the right end of the Tool Options bar and select "Reset Tool".
2. Go to Edit>Preset Manager> . . . don't make any changes. Just click on the "Done" button.
3. Delete the Preferences file.
Go to Edit>Preferences>General (Adobe Photoshop Elements Editor>Preferences> . . . on a Mac). Click on the "Reset Preferences on next launch" button. Ignore the "This cannot be undone." warning and click OK. Close Elements and then start it again.

Thanks, Sepiana. Unfortunately, none of those steps worked. I'm not sure how badly I need those original brushes; I can probably always download some from Brusheezy, for example. Thoughts?

haliburton,
Elements needs those default brushes; they are part of the program. They are also used by other tools which are brush-based such as the Eraser tool. I would suggest the last resort -- uninstall/reinstall Elements.

Okay: uninstalled/installed and all is back to normal. Thanks for your patience.

haliburton,
I hadn't forgotten you. I was coming back to address your question about your catalog. Great news! Glad to hear all is well now. What a relief!

Haliburton -
Tip: Now save your default brush set so you never have to go through this again.
