I thought it used to work; but lately, when I wish to preview a post prior to submitting it, the "Preview" button does nothing.
Is this something I am doing wrong or does it just not work anymore ?
Thanks for reading.

Buckskin -
When composing a message, yoiu have two choices: Preview, which shows you the text as you're writing it, or BBCode, which shows the actual HTML code of your message - that's it. So if you're seeing your text, that's the Preview mode and it's working.

Okay, thanks!; so, if I want to see any images I have attached, I need to work in BBCode so I can then get a preview of the images.

When you add an image, what you see is the URL, not the image; what's that about?! I don't know if it should be characterized as a bug or not, but the fix for what you are experiencing is a bit non-intuitive. Some features are not rendered fully until you click the BBCode tab and then back to the Preview tab. Now you should see the image itself!
