Image Title: Spudnik (Not sure how this will work as not been on PSE & More for ages.
Just wanted to let folk who can remember me what I am doing these days - still largely B&W but in LR and PS.
Techniques used include: - bare flash (ie no diffusion) on maximum zoom - 105mm - in order to give strongest shadow (as would be the case in space)
- use of history brush to emphasise the black lines in the skin of the potato - this is a good illustration of how useful the history brush can be.
- selected potato, reversed selection and deleted background
- downloaded spiral galaxy NG6503 from the Hubble images site
hubblesite.org/image/3586/news/4-galaxies
available in a range of image types from a 43.1 kb jpeg to a 25.8 mb TIFF (which was what I used)
- the Hubble galaxy NG6503 was a square image but as it was a large TIFF file I could copy it (Control A followed by Control C)
- paste it (Control V) on a new layer in the 'potato' image stack transform it to the shape that I wanted Control T plus drag corner while holding down Shift (this keeps proportions the same).
As it was a large TIFF image definition was still ok
