I got the surprise of my life today, when I saw that my favourite tree is covered in blossom. Enlarge to the full resolution for a clear picture.

I like that you used a muted photo as the background for your project. Very nice job.

Beautiful tree and thanks for the tip about viewing at full resolution....it was like the flowers were blooming right before my eyes . I agree with Janice about your presentation.

That is why the tree is my favourite - I love the trunk. I don't know what it is, but know somebody who lives close to it and may be able to tell me. I did zooming in on the original photo of the tree. Then cropped it. I didn't have a clue whether it would stay that size. But it did. Then, as you will all know, I changed the opacity on it. I managed to demolish some houses in a couple of the pictures, too. But, why oh why, can't I do things like triptych.

Whippet I don’t know what your problems are with creating a triptych but maybe this will help. I did it some time ago in the Digital Scrapbooking Section. If you go to this link and scroll way down the first page you will see an example I did with full instructions and also a photo of my layers panel. You should be able to do this no problem at all. I used an inner shadow on mine but you can use a bevel or anything you like. photoshopelementsandmore.com/thread/2050/scrapbook-challenge-03

But, why oh why, can't I do things like triptych. whippet,
The basic, easiest technique to create a triptych effect (and the one I usually use) . . .
- Use the Rectangular Marquee tool to make three selections on your image (one for each panel). - Place each selection/panel on its own layer. - Apply a layer style to each panel (drop shadow, bevel, etc.) - Change/edit the background layer to suit your project.
You may want to check the tutorial used in . . . Creative Effects Challenge No. 23 - Creating a Triptych
As a side note -- Not too long ago a member asked me via PM to explain how I had created the triptych images in my Gallery. The instructions are very detailed and with screen shots. I don't want to derail this thread. I will send those instructions to you.
