Clever use of the spiral and great blending of your photo onto your background. Nice job.

Thanks BillieJean. I still need a lot of practice with scrapbooking ideas and techniques, but at least I managed to get out of the starting blocks with a project. What is it they say – A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step and you have taken that step so it’s onward and upward now Sydney. Enjoy the journey.

That is so good. I love the design. Sure looks "Hollywood" to me. I especially like your color choices.

Too good BillieJean - I wish I had half your and Jan's talent to be able to do these kind of things.

Too good BillieJean - I wish I had half your and Jan's talent to be able to do these kind of things. It’s very nice of you to say so Sydney but I didn’t start out being able to do this kind of thing. I used to get discouraged when I looked at some of the entries in Galleries on various Digital Scrapping sites but I just kept plodding along trying out different things and viewing lots of video tutorials on YouTube picking up bits and pieces along the way. I still have a long way to go. Sometimes something I’ve been trying to do for a while suddenly just clicks and I feel great – that’s another step along that thousand mile journey I mentioned earlier…lol. Getting to grips with using Clipping Masks and Layer Masks together with the brushes has made a BIG difference (I think) to my work. That has allowed me to be more creative – in my eyes at least. Just keep going would be my advice to you… and you will get there.

Sorry Sydney. I was going to post this, then noticed you had beat me to it. But, why waste it.

Why indeed whippet. It's good to see different interpretations of the same theme. Cute photo for the background to this and love the snowflakes.

Thank you. Actually, the background is a picture I found on pixabay when I did a search for Iceland. All of the white is snow. I wanted to cut the people out, but couldn't do it. I got half way round with the marching ants, then it shot across, and cut the picture in half.

Cutting complex things from photos is my least favorite things to do - I won't even try anymore. It's way too much like work. LOL. I have had some decent results blending the photo by trying different modes - it's less harsh overall, but, really, if it's not a png to start with, I often abandon an idea. Your choice to frame the photo with snowflakes works to more fully integrate the photo without doing extraction.
Sydney, I love your design concept and its execution. It does not suffer from not being an extraction. It looks great.

Whippet, You may want to try Topaz Remask on that photo (and any other photos that have little contrast between what you are trying to select and the background). Topaz offers 30 day trials on their products and if you do a little digging for vouchers you should be able to find one offering at least 15% off. Just a thought.

Back to the Future - one of my very favorite movies. Love the way you have the cartoon figures on a real photo. Works so well.

Thank you both. I hadn't a clue about the film, Jan. So I didn't know if I had the correct ones or not. I had imagined it was a film with 'real' people.
