I want to open .EPS with Adobe Photoshop Element 11. Open or Open As is not working to open .EPS. The main reason to purchase photoshop 11 is to open .EPS. I would appreciate any advice to solve this problem. Thank you.

Suggest that you download and install Irfanview, a terrific free program - www.irfanview.com. You can open .eps files with this program, and save as JPEG, then open in PSE for processing.

Greetings ib , and welcome to the Photoshop Elements & More forum! The solution offered by ken1 sounds like a good one. According to fileinfo PSE 15 will open EPS files, but you are asking about version 11.

Hi ib, welcome to PSE&M!
Adobe dropped support for the EPS format starting with Elements 11. However, you can still use Elements to do what you want. Here are two possible workarounds. Do you happen to have a version of Elements earlier than version 11? If so, you can locate the EPS Parser.8BY file and copy/paste it in the Plug-ins folder in Elements 11.
Open EPS files in Photoshop Elements 11
You may also want to check this thread on the Adobe Photoshop Elements forum. It explains how to do it. Michel B, who is a member here, confirmed it works.
Is there a possibility to open a EPS-File within Adobe Photoshop Elements 11?
And . . . if you don't have an earlier version of Elements, just follow this suggestion by Andrei.
I've just found a simple solution for opening a EPS file. Just change the file's extension from "eps" to "tif". Or download and run this script to automate the renaming: elementsplus.net/scripts/openEPS.jsx

Thank you all for suggestions. Company doesn't allow to download free software. That is the reason I purchased PSE 11. Actually Company purchased it sometime ago and we don't have earlier version. Is there python version of the script? Thank you.

Hi again ib . It sounds like the solution offered by Andrei Doubrovski to simply rename the file from .EPS to .TIF is by far the easiest. I suggest doing an experiment: Make a copy of your file (copy MYFILE.EPS to MYFILE1.EPS) Now right-click MYFILE1.EPS and change to extension to .TIF Try opening MYFILE1.EPS in PSE 11 Let us know how it goes!

I also have Elements 11. Andrei's suggestion, which I posted earlier in this thread about renaming the .eps file to .tiff, works just fine.
If you have lots of .eps files to work with, you may consider purchasing Elements+, an add-on created by Andrei, which offers a script to automate the renaming process. This add-on costs only $12.

I added extension to .tif. But it is .tif.eps. How can I change .eps to be .eps.tif or just .tif? IB

Right-click on the file and select "Rename". Then, highlight just the .eps extension. Replace it with the .tiff extension.
