Some of you might be interested in the free ebooks from Anne McKinnnell. You can find them here along with a few others available for a reasonable cost. You also might benefit from some of the articles she has written for Digital Photography School.

Hope you'll post back with your thoughts, Sydney. I find that I can always use a refresher on photography techniques.....and often when I'm out shooting I forget the important things I thought I had learned!

I have had a good perusual of Ms McKinnell's '8 Types of Natural Light That Will Add Drama to Your Photographs' e-book and found it to be quite useful and informative. The types of lighting she delves into are backlight, sidelight, frontlight, reflected light, diffused light, dramatic light, twilight and night. She discusses common challenges and issues to consider for each type of lighting condition in order to get the most out of a shot. The book is well written, easy to read and presents very good examples. All in all she has done a great job putting it together.
